Happy Halloween – Spooky Links

Kat

October 31, 2009

Halloween isn't as big a deal in the UK as it is in America. I usually go out to dinner or something to avoid the teenagers who come round in tracksuits, demanding sweets in exchange for the promise that they won't egg your house...but maybe that's just me. Oh and I don't really like dressing up (well no more than I do on a daily basis..my fashion sense has been described as 'unique', 'interesting' and 'individual' many a time!)

October 30, 2009

Have you been dreaming about a gorgeous vintage style gown but have been afraid of the potentially massive price tag? Well Katherine Robinson of Whirlingturban has the answer! From a career in Hollywood making glamorous outfits for superstars, Katherine relocated to Bali (!) 8 years ago where she designs and makes vintage reproduction dresses. Her stunning ready made creations for example start at just $400 in her wedding boutique and for a completely custom dress you'd be looking at prices from only $800. As everything is done online she will even ship out a loaner dress to you to make sure the cut and fit are perfect before she makes your dress.

Caught the Light

Kat

October 30, 2009

The wedding had 'colours and music' as its theme and invites (as well as table plates) arrived as personalised vinyl discs with the event details printed on them. Tara & Lawrence are a supercool, young and individual couple and chose bridesmaids in bright block colour dresses, red details (Zara & Vivienne Westwood shoes) and a dress designed by her friend Joleen Lawrence. They had their ceremony at Davenport House in Greenwich and we then headed over to Greenwich park for 10 minutes in the sunshine. I brought balloons along as I had in mind a particular photo I wanted to get and I think it worked out well. Lawrence took Tara back to see their guests on piggyback, before we all walked over to Greenwich bar & kitchen for dinner.

Let’s Rock!

Kat

October 29, 2009

Today I'm going to share a bunch of wedding that quite simply put..ROCK! You'll know why when you see them. Starting off with guitars, grunge bands and Rocky! The bride, Lizzie told me all: The overall theme of our wedding was our favorite music. Rich and I both love music and we both play guitar. I play guitar and he plays the drums. So I was really important to me anyway to incorporate our insane obsession for music as well as keeping it traditional for our family who were providing the funds. However although our wedding was 2 years ago and unfortuantly your site wasn't around to get awesome ideas from I think we did a pretty good job. We did not have a guestbook, people signed a guitar which also happened to be blue & brown which was our wedding colors. In one of the pictures attached one of my BM is carring it into the reception. Our card box was a floor tom with a hole cut into the drum head. Our tables where named after our favorite bands, Hole, Nirvana, Babes in Toyland, patti Smith just to name a few. Our favor was a CD of our favorite love songs, Love Buzz - Nirvana - Good GOod Things- The Desendants - Because the Night - Patti Smith. Again just to name a few. Our Bridal Party when they got annoced to the reception all came in carrying guitars and walked in to Breed by Nirvana. They all acted out a rock n roll clique by smashing a guitar and etc. My cake was Blue with huge polka dots which is just cool in itself if you ask me. We went to Philly to get our picture take the Rocky Statue and I have a lot of really cool pictures from that also. Thanks to Lizzie & Richie for sharing their Rock n Roll perfect day with us!

Ruffled

Kat

October 28, 2009

You lucky lucky things, I have a couple of ridiculously gorgeous ruffled dresses to share with you today, starting with this yellow beauty. Photographer Apryl deemed Rock n Roll Bride worthy of being the first blog to share her work...like, ever. How awesome is that? Oh...and how awesome are these?! The dress, a Clifton Wilhite original found at Junkadoodle was a bit of a mess when they found it, however Apryl and her team, including Katie (who played model for the day) & Sally from Revolution Gardenwho supplied the masquerade masks cleaned it up and rocked out to get these amazing shots. Truly inspiring! Thanks to Apryl for sharing these. I can not wait to see more from you in future!

Plucked From a Love Story

Kat

October 27, 2009

I actually can't get enough of Josephine Sicad's photography. Not only does each frame have that darling vintage tone to it, but every image just oooozes love...like you can tell how much she adores her work from the photographs alone...does that make sense or am I rambling again? The images also have that 'cinematic quality that I've always adored, like the boys of MangoRED before her, Josephine's image appear as if they could have been plucked right from a movie about a love story. Go check out her Facebook Fan Page for more more more of this set! Thanks again to the ever lovely and wonderful Josephine for sharing these with me...I may be your new biggest fan!
