Punpkin Carving. Autumn Leaves. Masquerade Ball.

Kat

November 7, 2009

Skye & Liam had a detail-perfect Halloween wedding in Cambridgeshire. The couple really went all out and even had a pumpkin carving competition for their guests. They suspected many people wouldn't bother, but to their surprise and delight nearly every guest brought a personalised pumpkin to share! What a talking point huh? Instead of a guest book, they opted for a message 'tree' where their guests could write messages to the newly married couple on the autumnal leaves which they attached to the branches. They even rounded the evening off with a masquerade ball! Hello awesomeness! Thanks to Kim for sharing these. I am expecting to share a load more of Kim's fantastic work on the site soon! Sleepy Hollow(een) Wedding

Kat

November 6, 2009

I don't get to feature enough gothic style weddings so when Carmel & Drynn's rustic yet opulent gothic affair landed on my desk I jumped at the chance to share these. The Bride told me... I found my dress at Gothic Wedding Dresses and our flowers were done by Punch Portland. The inspiration for our theme was based on Tim Burton-esque Sleepy Hollow, classic Victorian but with a dark feel. We are kind of "darker" individuals so we wanted that reflected but wanted to do it in a classy tasteful way. We didn't want to scare our guests too much! We picked Drynn's hat up at a vintage store the feather piece & my headpieces were done by Cricket Quills. Thanks to Carmel & Drynn for sharing their day with us

Meredith Sweet

November 5, 2009

I featured Meredith & Justin's cute picnic engagement session a while back so it's only fitting that I also share their wedding...especially as it turned out as pretty as this - hello...?A tea length textured dress with pockets! Meredith's dress came from Melissa Sweet and is called Fiesole. It's a silk strapless tea-length dress with all over horizontal net embellishment and bow at waist and is quite frankly perfect for her. Wow so jealous! hehe Thanks so much to Nina for sharing these!

Kat

November 4, 2009

Credit: Gia Canali Photography It is my absolute pleasure to announce that the winner of the Toccata White Orchid bolero contest is...(dum dum duuuum....) Racheal My wedding is 3 weeks away and THIS is the EXACT item I’ve been looking for to complete my Mad-Men-meets-Indie-bride look {pearls, lace, feathers, and touches of leopard print}. Stunning! WAY over budget already {or else I would have the White Orchid Delux wedding dress I’ve been eyeing for an eternity}, so I’d be forever grateful to be gifted such a mindblowingly spectacular piece, but rest assured, I WILL have either the angelique or the white orchid bolero on my wedding day! Congratulations Rachael, I am already eagerly waiting to be sent your wedding photographs after the day! Michi from Toccata will be in contact with you to get your colour choice, size and shipping address soon!

Perfectly Sweet

Kat

November 4, 2009

Carnival weddings always make me smile. Jenna & Tommy's wedding is no different. I thought I'd share another wedding with you that I did this summer. The bride's last name was Morrissey which made me instantly think of The Smiths (one of my most favorite bands ever). Jenna and Tommy were married in Providence, RI in Roger Williams Park. Their inspiration was that of a 1950's carnival complete with carousel, penny candy and popcorn. The bride stole away during the reception to change into a pink vintage dress to surprise her new husband. Their first dance? "There is a Light That Never Goes Out" by The Smiths. Perfectly sweet. Thanks to Olivia for sharing this and making me smile (again - she shoot the Married by a Moose wedding!)

The Corpse Bride

Kat

November 4, 2009

With Halloween falling on a Saturday this year and it being a distinctly unconventional theme for a wedding, I have not at all been surprised to receive a number of spooky themed weddings that took place last weekend. I'm kicking today off with Colinne & Shane's wedding. Some of my favourite details include Colinne's choice of converse trainers under her dress plus her black diamond engagement ring, the lucky rabbit's foot that accompanied her bouquet and acted as her 'something old'. The couple even used the vows from The Corpse Bride as their own! With this hand, I will lift your sorrows. Your cup will never empty, For I will be your wine. With this candle, I will light your way in darkness. With this ring, I ask you to be mine Thank you to Elizabeth for sharing these Credit: ENV Photography

Obsessional, Moi?!

Kat

November 3, 2009

I'm trying these new thing where I do all my writing in the mornings and schedule my posts throughout the day so that a) I don't end up posting post after post after post and b) so that I actually have time to do other stuff instead of just blogging! However I've popped online this evening to reply to the plethora of emails that has built up over the last few hours and look...the ting is I literally could not wait until tomorrow to share these. Forgive me! Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeek!!

A Shoot to Remember

Kat

November 3, 2009

Unable to shoot her cousin's wedding, Lauri of Zoom Photography decided to give Kaya & Jon a day after shoot to remember! Kaya and Jon are a true meeting of the minds. She works in advertising and he in finance, living in their Chicago loft, mostly run by their pug Chloe and bulldog Sebastian. Jon's passionate love of music is apparent from the moment you meet him, his inspired word choice, verbose nature and unsurpassed loyalty also make an immediate impression. Kaya’s extroverted and vivacious qualities, coupled with her caring and generous nature make her noticeably standout in a room full of loud and boisterous people. Just four years ago, there was Jon making another brilliant decision before the blaring juke box at Pint, a Chicago bar. But, instead of steering to his old faithful albums in peace, his decision was abruptly challenged. A sassy, slightly rude girl leaned up against him as she uttered "don't play anything BAD". Little did she know, Jon's musical choices were never bad, but he did enjoy a challenge. Three years later they travelled through Europe, and Jon proposed in Poland, where Kaya was born. Pledging his life to her on the very soil where her life had begun, Jon asked that she spend spend the rest of her life with him. On September 26th, standing before all of their friends and family, they were married overlooking Lake Michigan, at the John G. Shedd Aquarium, downtown Chicago. In true family style, Kaya walked down the aisle with her great grandmother's necklace, her grandfather's WWII patch sewn into her dress, and her new mother-in law's sapphire ring, for a touch of something blue! The wedding colors were inspired by the aquarium, cool celadon greens, and dark emeralds; centerpieces accented with coral and branches borrowed from nature. The bride and groom chose to pass on wedding favors, in order to make a donation to their furry friends at the Anti-Cruelty Society of Chicago.

Married by a Moose

Kat

November 1, 2009

OK what the hell is going on? Is it really November already...what the fudge?! Does this mean I'm going to have to finally admit that Christmas is on it's way? I'm just going to forget about that for a while and get to posting today's awesome weddings and photo sessions...that's a much better idea! A wedding based around a moose? I have to admit I giggled rather a lot when I read the email from photographer Olivia. However the photographs certainly justify the hilarity. Sweet and personal...everything we love!
