Courtney & Michael's wedding is one of those that you wish you could see a fresh everyday. I got so excited when photographer Jacquelyn sent me this wedding to look at! They had a small ceremony officiated by an friend of the bride which took place at Birmingham Zoo Lodge. Pretty much everything about this wedding was DIY. The groom felted the cake topper (two birds sharing an ipod) and all of the bouquets. The brides birdcage veil and headpiece were made by her friend/hairdresser. They printed up tickets to throw instead of bird feed or bubbles. There was a small cake and punch reception afterwards where the guests were greeted by a llama and a parrot. After the reception, the bridal party met at a local restaurant - Rojo - for some eats and then on to the after party! The after party was held at a bar/antique shop called The Garage where there was much laughter shared and alcoholic beverages consumed. Ooh two fabulous UK weddings in one day - I love it when that happens. Photographer Julia Boggio told me all about the super stylish and super fun wedding of Andrew & Lisa Andrew and Lisa got married in Brighton in October on a very sunny day at the Hotel Du Vin. The hotel held special significance for the bride because, when it was a pub many years ago, her grandparents used to leave her father as a boy sitting outside with a Coke and some chips to keep him busy while they had a pint with their mates. Thus the picture of her dad with the chips and the Coke! Good photography was extremely important to Andrew and Lisa, who is a graphic designer. Having seen some of my previous work, they had some ideas about stuff they'd like to do; for example, with one of my previous couples, I got them to stand in a shop window. Lisa and Andrew liked this so much that they asked a nearby shop if they could do the same thing. The image of them sitting in the bathtub in the Fired Earth window was the result. Also, for the group shot, they brought loads of props along so we could head down to the beach for some fun. His father cagily told us he would meet us down on the beach and disappeared for a bit. He found us fifteen minutes later, having changed into typical British beach-going wear, complete with hanky tied over his head. Everything about this wedding was great fun!

Dena & Mark's day after shoot is the optimisation of glamour! Their outfits and the London locations are spot on and the photography by the awesome Segerius Bruce really reflects and oozes alluring feel. The couple had a Jewish wedding which always tend to be held late on Sundays, so what with the wedding taking place in November, once the ceremony was done there was not much light for a portrait shoot. Hello my dears and welcome to the first Thursday Treats of the new decade! Just as big, just as inspiring and just as fit to bursting with links and fun a-plenty. Let's crack on shall we? ♥ 2010 may only be in it's infancy, but it has so far been a very exciting year for Rock n Roll Bride! Not only was I featured in Cosmopolitan Bride, but I was lucky enough to be asked to model for the infamous Julia Boggio and her Vintage Boudoir series. I braved the snow yesterday and headed up to her Wimbledon studios for a day of fabulous retro hair & make up, styling to die for and to pose and pout my little ass off. I can not wait to share all the details and the photographs, but for now, why not check out my sneak peak shots that I took of (some!) of my outfits with my new favourite toy.

Ryan & Cha Cha's engagement session blows everything else out of the water. An eclectic, colourful, hilarious, circus, wonderland styled shoot looks like absolute crazy fun. A sugarcane plantation in Northern Cebu was the perfect backdrop for our quirky theme of vagabond lovers. Hats, clown figurines, a colored umbrella, truck load of clothes, bicycles, and a purple teddy bear. Pure craziness in the middle of nowhere! Smoking Hot, Red Themed Trash the Dress (in the Snow!)

The UK may be currently crippled by snow (again!) but the residents of Nebraska are more than used to the cold - even so far as to some being crazy enough to brave the -12 degrees C temperatures to shoot a smoking hot, red themed trash the dress session. I salute you! The bride, Taumi, bought her dress online at Bridesave for $120 (that included gloves) and her veil was ordered on ebay for $12. Bargains! I love the daring flashes of red with her tights, shoes and cardigan - they certainly add something extra to the snowy scened shoot. Amanda & Nick has a super chic, totally personal, 1950's inspired wedding. From Amanda's cute polka dot dress from Unique Vintage to the beautiful retro style photography by Made u Look Photography (which even included one roll of black & white film from an old film camera - remember those!?) the whole day ooooozes authentic, rockabilly charm. After running a free photography contest on her blog (hint: enter mine!) photographer Laura Ryan was lucky enough to find Rebeca & Martin - two rockers from Boston who wanted her to shoot their red-themed wedding. Rebeca’s dress and Martin’s coat were handmade by her friend who created it for her from a 1950’s pattern and Rebeca even made her own hairpiece. The whole wedding had a old English teatime theme so everyone wore stylish hats, ate finger foods and drank tea to their heart's content in the beautiful historic building of Boston College Club, complete with cascading staircases and baroque style wall paper. Thanks to Laura (a real life rocker who actually has even visited my home town of Reading for the world famous Reading Festival) for sharing this wonderful wedding with us

With the New Year upon us, I thought it apt to begin thinking about where I want Rock n Roll Bride to go in the next 12 months. I downloaded Gala Darling's 'Love & Sequins' #7 podcast, in which the crazy-inspiring writer/blogger/international playgirl imparted all her blogging, writing and general career awesomeness on to us mere wannabe blogging gurus. It really gave me a much needed boot up the arse and go me a-thinking about the year ahead (note: if you are a blogger yourself you need to download this think - it freakin' rocks) My mind is now fit to bursting with new ideas and directions for the site, but to ease you in gently, here’s diversion numero uno. Now don't you worry, there will still be just as much real wedding goodness this year (how could I possibly stop) but with the success of the 'How to Blog' series still ringing in my ears I thought it a great idea to expand on the idea and reach out and help all of my readers in one way or another. The 'How to...' series will be vast. It will be diverse. It will mould and shape itself in to a sequined glitter ball of knowledge and inspiration in no time at all and I need your help. What do you want help with? What can I write about to help you? Planning your wedding? Building your blog? Expanding your business? How to dye your hair pink!?...anything. I have a crack team of experts behind me who I plan to call upon whenever I need them (although most of them actually don’t know this yet!) So, without further ado, here we go with an email I received just the other day.

Makah & Andre's engagement shoot makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside; and as I sit here in my Slanket and fingerless gloves (I kid you not) I am so excited that they shared them with me! The South American couple met at the party of a mutual friend and they got married in December. After seeing these I am very excited to see their wedding photographs now too...I hope they make me feel just as snuggly warm. Thanks to Makah & Andre for sharing these with us

The photographer certainly knows best with this one, so over to Wes for all the details behind this tattooed, painted, vintage fashioned shoot: Melissa & Grant's Trash the Dress session was totally rocking from the bride's amazing tattoos to their desire to have lots of fun with paint and silly string! The bride wore a vintage gown (not sure of the designer) and it up with a pink crinoline underskirt and a pair of sweet hot pink heels. To be fair, this was not the dress she wore for her wedding...she had purchased two and decided to wear one on her wedding day and one for the TTD. All in all they were a simply awesome couple who were down for anything. BTW, we used nontoxic paint so as not to damage the natural surroundings and picked up every last piece of silly string. Thanks to Wes for sharing this fun shoot. Painting a dress is certainly cool.

Is it just me or did Christmas just zoom by!? The build up is always huge and I can't believe it's all over with now. As blog-land slowly wakes up after a much needed rest (not me..too much of a blogaholic I am...take two weeks off? Are you nuts?!) I'm still swooning over the many Crimbo-related submissions I've been receiving. Catie & Dave's engagements stood out as soon as photographer Lisa sent them to me. Not only is Catie a huge fan of Rock n Roll Bride (she gets instant kudos and jumps the the front of the featuring queue for that one) but the couple's shoot is nothing short of spectacular. The Christmas lights really bring the shots alive and how can I resist the fact that to propose, Dave got 'Will you marry me?' inked on his arm, thank God she said yes! Thanks to Lisa for sharing these and to Catie & Dave for being aweome. I can't wait to see how their wedding turns out in October.

I love this vintage fashion shoot so much! It has such a cool rustic, almost thrown-together feel with all those eclectic details... and who can resist all those candles? Isn't the light they emit just fantastic? Photographer Katelyn explains: What do you get when you put together 1 1/2 tables, 2 table-cloths, over 120 candles, 7 lanterns, 6 windows, some pretty awesome containers (jars), and some really cool books? an AWESOME outdoor photo shoot! I did a country vintage shoot that lasted through the day and into the night! It never got higher than 40 degrees but my model roughed it and did a great job. Thanks to Katelyn for sharing these with us...I need to do a shoot with candles like, now.

Laura & Gena whimsical & elegant wedding took place at the historic Moody Mansion in Galveston. They added delicious personal and fun touches which fitted in with the bird theme such as lots of vintage bird details to put around the ceremony and reception, including flowers in antique bird cages. They had formal elements like flocked damask programs, Chivari chairs, a string trio and two topiary junipers which were contrasted with ideas such as little stuffed birds on the cocktail tables and an owl on the sign in table. Both brides wore dresses by Nicole Miller. Thanks to Suzi for sharing this beeeautiful wedding with us

I hadn't planned on another blog post today but I couldn't resist sharing these stunning images right this second! Siri is a singer/songwriter...and as it turns out, quite the model too. Just check out this stunning dress made for her by Stephanie James Couture for her upcoming tour. I thought she needed something special for her 2009 US tour, so I went with the Fifi dress with a draped bodice and puffy, pleated sleeves…she loves 80’s fashions, so I did my best SJC with an 80’s spin!! It looked amazing on her. My friend and I went up to Hollywood to make sure it fit her and did a mini photoshoot while we were at it!!

I have been featured in what is undoubtedly the best bridal magazine in the UK - Cosmopolitan Bride! Oh the excitement. Skin Graft, L.A.M.B & Dreadlocks

Kati & Hilal's wedding made me squeal with delight. It may have primarily been her custom made Skin Graft gown, her L.A.M.B shoes and her dreads that made me so excited, but alongside this inital visual feast, the whole laid back ambiance, feel and ethos of the day really makes me happy. Kati explained her choice of dress: Basically, it came about like this: I had seen and bought a few individual pieces of Skin Graft attire during the past few years, and then I noticed that they had a few weddings (within their "gallery".) I started an email conversation with them about a year before the wedding. (Skin Graft consists of 3 core designers and at least one wedding/custom gown assistant. I envisioned the outfit with Cassidey (one of the core 3) and then he passed me off to Amanda (wedding attire assistant) who finished the project off. We discussed different types of dresses they had already made, and different things I liked/didn't like. They sent photos of previous work, and drawings of my potential gown back and forth via email. I was measured in San Antonio, and sent the measurements to LA. When I received the dress I had to have it altered a little, but Skin Graft reimbursed me for the alteration fees.
