Carnival Love

Kat

April 6, 2010

Hayley & Brett's funfair/carnival themed love shoot makes me feel all playful. Gotta love a couple who can have a blast together! Together for a little over 2 years, this pair found comfort in each other through some difficult times at the beginning of their relationship. They decided to do their pre-wedding shoot at a carnival to symbolize their fun personalities and has a celebration of their love for one another. Her dress is vintage which she found at a thrift store and their flowers were done by Mignonne Handmade.

Uptown meets Downtown

Kat

April 5, 2010

I have no words... OK so that's a lie, I always have words. Lots of them. But this aaamazing 'Uptown meets Downtown' shoot which was put together by Adrienne Colosimo of Bespoke Affairs (I featured her own wedding nearly exactly a year ago!) and photographer Danny Weiss. I'm sorry but this shoot makes me want to live in New York even more...and I want to wear that Annlum Red / Anna Zhu couture wedding gown with biker boots and a leather jacket literally every day I'm there

The Pink Invasion – Pink Chic

Kat

April 4, 2010

Happy Easter everybody! As regular readers will know, the Rock n Roll Bride doesn't stop blogging for anything so I thought I'd share one of my favourite topics today - pink haired gals! I hope you haven't eaten too much of the sweet stuff because today I'm going to provide you with one serious sugar rush... As a lover of all things pink (headed) I'm excited to share that all three of today's posts feature gorgeous pink tresses! Kicking things off is the engagement session of Fred & Martine. She told us that she once went to a party wearing a wig this exact colour and she got so many compliments she decided to make it permanent! It's been pink ever since... Her green plaid dress is an authentic Pendleton which she found for a steal at a vintage thrift store.

Fiery Wedding at Sloss Furnaces

Kat

April 3, 2010

My last wedding from Bob Miller (for now! - if you missed them here's one and two) is the gorgeous relaxed but energetic wedding of Beverly & Neil. Sloss Furnaces in Birmingham AL (apparently one of the most haunted places in the US!) was suggested to the pair by their friend and eventual wedding coordinator, Sarah Crawford. After visiting Sloss, they both agreed this location would provide the unique, relaxed, and energetic atmosphere they wanted. Working within a very limited budget, they felt that choosing an unconventional location would allow them to bypass some of the traditional wedding etiquette. "The location also said a lot about our interests" the groom told me. " I'm an Architect (student) and Beverly is a Graphic Designer. The soaring smokestacks and steel columns and beams (all decades old) provided an amazing setting. In addition, much of Sloss consists of beautiful greenery sprouting out of the old steel in various spots."

Old/New School Vintage Vogue

Kat

April 3, 2010

This scarlet-themed, soft, cool, old school/new school vintage session was sent over today by Jessika of December Photography. "I've been seeking clients who want something different " she told me. "I love experimenting and new ideas to channel my creativity. This engagement session had an old school/new school vintage theme. Outfits were organized only by colors. My vision was 'vogue meets nylon, and bring the chair'. I wanted some things to be out of place and clash, yet tie together beautifully in the end. While editing them, I kept with the vintage theme, de-saturated, vignettes, and warm/cool tones. The couple was very fun and up for anything, they made the pictures what they are!"

Best Of Blogs – Issue 7 ~ David McNeil

Kat

April 2, 2010

I joked about this on Twitter and Facebook yesterday, but it may actually be true you know - they might as well have called this month's Photo Pro Magazine, Rock n Roll Bride Magazine because the awesome guys over there not only ran my regular 'Best of Blogs' article, but my friend and photographer, the way-too-fabulous Julia Boggio, wrote a piece about 'the art of posing'...and guess who's Vintage Boudoir session is adoring FOUR whole pages?! That's right people...it's meee! I can't wait to share those with you (on Monday) but for now let's get right into learning all about another one of my favourite UK photographers (and just so happens, best friends) David McNeil!

Inspired by Scotland

Kat

April 2, 2010

I'm filing this under 'engagement' because I'd love to think someone will be inspired by these for their own engagement shoot. So, technically this isn't a wedding-related photo shoot at all, but when Chris & Dani of Chris Barber Media headed up to Scotland last week, they ended up taking some pretty damn stunning images. and well, I just HAD to share them. The landscape is incredible, the water is awe-inspiring and the subjects are such fun (love the instax shots - swoon!)

Homespun & Locally Sourced

Kat

April 1, 2010

I've discovered one of my new favourite photographers! So much in fact that I emailed him to ask for not one, not two, but THREE of his weddings to feature...so hold onto your hats because over the next few days you're gonna see some serious awesome. First up is Tony & Katie's laid back, funky backyard wedding. Although the pair live in New York they opted to hold their wedding in Kentucky where all their family are based. They knew they didn't want a traditional church wedding and luckily for them Katie's grandparents allowed their home to play host to the celebrations.

Parisian Super Glam

Kat

April 1, 2010

"When styling this photo shoot, we wanted to create a romantic vintage atmosphere with a twist. Something vibrant, elegant, and out-of-the-box. Having been to the Moulin Rouge cabaret in Paris, we tied in details and rich colors reminiscent of our visit. The rich reds, deep purple irises, and black accents were intended on creating perhaps a non-traditional wedding palette. Tucking black feathers into deep, velvety red roses and contrasting purple irises, our floral pieces emitted a tone of a classic wedding romance while being a bit off-beat. Sheet music was rolled into scrolls and synced with crystal drops for a little touch of whimsy. Gorgeous hand-painted place cards accented our ruby French brocade linen and black satin napkins gave a punch of interest. All of these elements came together seamlessly to create a wedding celebration that is timeless, a bit sexy, and just radiating romance."

Creativity Running Wild

Kat

March 31, 2010

I have to be honest, I've been gagging to share Aubrey & Marshall's wedding ever since photographer's Stacie & Geoffrey (you may remember them from their own - way too damn cool wedding) sent me a sneak peek...not only because of how rad this wedding actually is, but because I have secretly been harboring a photographic crush on Lang Photographers (I'm probably their biggest Twitter stalker!) Aubrey & Marshall diy-ed their whole wedding with very little budget - they just let their creativity run wild! Everything from the origami to the curtain, from the invitation to the pinwheels was constructed and created by the pair and I am dying over here! Oh tell me your love it as much as I do...

British Boudoir

Kat

March 31, 2010

This fabulous Boudoir/Pin up style shoot was set up by British photographer Shaneen Rosewarne Cox. "My Make up artist is fabulous at creating that seductive, lashtastic pin up look" She told me "She also styled the models hair and I loved how the retro bouncy curls turned out. Accessories are all mine and are mostly props from the studio. The STUNNING blue Manolo Blahnik shoes are actually my "something blue" from my own wedding day. All in all it was a really fun day full of bucks fizz, pearls, blue shoes and vogue magazine!! A perfect way to spend a Sunday in my opinion. "

A Wedding on Water

Kat

March 31, 2010

Julie & John got married in September 2008 at Luss Pier in Loch Lomond, Scotland. Although originally from Manchester, they chose this location as it was perfect for their ideal wedding - small and intimate - with only about 30 of their closest friends and family. They hired a boat from Sweeney's Cruises where they had their ceremony and drinks. Afterward they walked along the beach to the Lodge on Loch Lomond where they had their meal and the rest of their evening.
