Michelle & Mike's engagement session is a total reflection of them as a couple. They were inspired by Quentin Tarantino for the style and used their "Rockabilly, car kulture, punk culture, antiques, vintage & neo-traditional design and styling, neo-gothic, country/western, low-brow art, tattoo culture, vintage pin-up/greaser" personalities as the theme! They even brought a 1970 Mustang Grande & 1962 Chevrolet Biscayne along for the ride.Read more...

David & Julie-Anne's wedding shoot was a total reflection on who they are as a couple. Everything they chose to wear had special meaning to them and was sentimental and personal. "We didn't want the usual stresses of a modern day wedding to take away from the love and happiness of our day, so we chose to keep it simple, fun and comfortable" they explained.Read more...

Nick & Hannah had a 3 day wedding at Christian retreat and conference centre Lee Abbey. The celebrations started with a day of fun activities for all their guests including archery, mountain boarding and zip wiring through the forest. Not only that, but all their guests were invited to wear fancy dress. That sure made for lots of laughs and some awesome photographs. The couple made an extra special effort, coming as Robin Hood and Maid Marion. Hannah had even worn her Grandmother's own wedding dress in memory of her.Read more...

Blake & Megan have been married a few years but wanted to do a new photo shoot to reflect who they are as a couple right now (I'm hoping to convince Gareth to do the same thing soon - the latest photos we have of us together are our wedding photos. In these he has a shaved head (he now has long hair) and I have brown hair - we couldn't be more different now!)Read more...

As a pale chick with brightly coloured hair myself, I felt an instant affinity to Cheyenne's photo shoot. Photographer Sarah wanted to contrast with something dark and almost gothic is style as she knew this would create a really dramatic impact. "The black lipstick was definitely my starting point for the rest of the styling. Our first outfit was the lace trimmed bodysuit with the patterned tights and long coat. We shot in the late afternoon, but it was still over 100 degrees here (LA), she was a real trooper. I thought that this would be an interesting approach to a boudoir session with a bride not into the traditional lacy panty pics. I hope I find a bride who would be down for it! ha. All of the outfits were from my vintage and thrifted collection of pieces."Read more...

Why have I never seen a Psycho themed wedding before? This is so incredibly cool! Robert, a film director, and his bride Suzi, a make up artist, sent out generic invitations for their June 5th Wedding. It included a strict meeting time and hints of being transported to a secret location. This year is 50 years since Psycho terrified audiences all over the world and the film-loving couple thought that the very house that the movie was filmed it would make the perfect location for their wedding. It was the first ever wedding held at the Psycho House. The pair really went all out with their theme which started when and the groom appeared from the House escorted by none other than Norman Bates as Mother. He descended the famous staircase and the bride entered from Janet Leigh's room #1. The recessional ended with Robert carrying Suzi back to the hotel under the watchful eye of Norman Bates.Read more...

Alex & Lisa met 13 years and discovered a mutual love of music, books & film "We met nearly 13 years ago and the one thing that brought us together was music. He was wearing a t shirt of my favourite band and I fell for him" Lisa told me. "When we started dating we would wander around London checking out music shops, flicking through CD and vinyl to add to our collections and then head to a local cinema to catch a film. We probably spent more time in the records shops in Soho and a cinema than anywhere else. Many of those films we saw are now our favourite films and we probably know them inside out. I read books like there is no tomorrow and Alex is slowly coming round to that after having spent a lifetime reading comics and graphic novels. I bake cakes every weekend and while I enjoy making them, Alex enjoys eating them so when we are out I always take him to a cake shop so we can have a treat. I am also the official photographer in our relationship and I have the cameras and stacks of photo's to prove it. Alex helped me buy my first SLR and he sat in front of the camera on many occasion to help me with college projects"Read more...

How much do I love Hayley & Lucas' adorable English countryside engagement shoot? Almost makes me proud to be British! The ever-lovely Lisa Devlin captured the couple in Sussex as they wanted a countryside location and with the yellow flowers, Hayley's outfit and the glorious British summertime light (yes, it does happen sometimes) the scene couldn't have been more perfect. Over the last year or so props have been massively popular in weddings and photo shoots however Hayley & Lucas wanted to keep their shoot simple - just them. They did opt to bring some flowers though and Donal at Pollen came up with the spiky posy of zingy yellow chrysanthemums to contrast beautifully with their rural, natural setting.Read more...

The first Staggered Saturday post seemed to go down pretty well with you all (both the girls and the boys!) so I asked the very lovely Andrew Shanahan of UK blokes wedding blog, Staggered to write us a part 2. This week, Andrew discusses if grooms are actually bothered about what goes into their wedding day or would they rather leave all the planning to the girls? As always, we want to hear your thoughts in the comments section please!Read more...

OK I am EXCITED! Roni & Dave's reception is, like, totally the most awesome diy, homespun cute-fest ever and I've got the full scoop and all the juicy details for you. I featured their wedding day shoot not so long ago and as soon as I saw Roni's adorable and oh-so-awesome homemade vintage brooch bouquet I knew the rest of their wedding was going to be awe-inspiring but I'm telling you, nothing prepared me for this! The couple's reception was held in Roni's parent's house and backyard. For the flowers and centrepieces they bought all the blooms and the watering pots from Cosco and made them all themselves. "I didn't care what kind of flowers we had or where they came from. I just knew I wanted them to look like they were just hand picked out of a field" Roni told me. They ordered the yummy looking cakes from Liberty Market (Gilbert, AZ) and Roni & her Mum added the lace and brooches as well as an adorable home made cake topper.Read more...

I've seen a lot of Alice in Wonderland shoots and weddings this year but none as fan-bloody-tastic as Jessica & Wade's. The couple said they came up with the Victorian Alice theme on a whim (even before the film came out this year) and decided to run with it. Unbelievably the couple designed and came up with everything for the wedding themselves. This is a wedding I wish I'd be at! I literally don't know where to start when it comes to talking about how awesome this wedding is so I'm just going to make a huge list of all the bits that I love about it.Read more...

Photographer Amanda and her model Cathy wanted to style a shoot that didn't in anyway reflect the usual bridal look. They wanted to explore how using what the bride loves can and should shape her bridal look and not the preconceived ideas portrayed by the wedding industry. "The inspiration for this shoot was Cathy and all the things she loves" explained Amanda. "She has very eclectic tastes and is a collector of beautiful things. Both of the dresses were vintage pieces that she has picked up over the years along with the jewellery and jackets. Cathy also loves Vivienne Westwood hence her hair colour and the shoes.Read more...
