Laura & Neil 1950's Rock n Roll wedding was inspired by the thing that brought them together - music. They explain, "Music was the thing that brought us together - Neil's Dad played the Cavern in the early 60's - and we've both always had an interest in classic Rock n Roll. We definitely enjoyed searching - Laura liked sourcing her own dress on the internet and having the bespoke accessories made to personalise the look. We didn't want to look like anyone else and we didn't want the wedding to be traditional. We choose Sassy of Assassynation as our photographer because of her unusual and unique style."Read more...

As a high school teacher, getting married at the school she taught at seemed like the perfect idea to April. The venue also gave them a really great starting block for a totally unique and awesome wedding - Back to School! "I'd say our wedding was a mix of Madmen style with a book theme," April explained. "I am a high school English teacher and my husband is a graduate student at University of Chicago with plans to be a professor. A book theme just seemed natural. I immediately knew I wanted books as our centerpieces and since our names are April and Zdenko, A to Z bookends were perfect. Then I thought of personalized pencils and it all started to come together."Read more...

Today I'd like to introduce you to the photography of Kjrsten Madsen. Over the past few months I've been rediscovering my love of film photography and so it really is an honour to share these images with you all. Our wedding photos were shot on film, and although this wasn't really a concious decision at the time, looking back there really is a huge amount of joy that I get from knowing that these images were imprinted on a physical roll of film and developed by hand in a darkroom.Read more...

I don't think I've ever featured a wedding from Lithuania on the blog before, but I'm pleased to say that's all about to change...and if there are more Lithuanian weddings as awesome as this one I want to share them as well please! Alma & Aleksandras' wedding was sent to me by their planner Laura Vagonė. "I met these two six months ago, both of them are photographers so wanted to have wedding in some special and at an interesting place. I‘ve offered them an old carousel park and they loved the idea. The ceremony was held at 8am and officiated by the the father of the groom. We had amazing party and the guests were invited to try carousel. They were happy as kids, trust me. We also had a live band playing the whole time. Everything was so great that I‘d like to share that colourful joy with you!"Read more...

Things I'm making a conscious effort to do since the Feather Love workshop this week... ♥ Cutting the negative crap out of my life and focusing on positive energy ♥ Confirming my love for my support network ♥ Cutting down on commitments that drain my time & energy and give me little or nothing in return ♥ Starting to write for the 'art' of the written word again. Remembering why I fell in love with writing in the first place ♥ Trying to feel less guilty ♥ Getting excited about new projects...for me, no one else, and not worrying if no one else cares ♥ Dancing to offensive hip hop on a regular basisRead more...

"Our theme was nature and DIY, paper and origami," newlywed Roxy wrote. "Being a designer, it was important to me that we personalize our wedding and that we showcase our creativity. It was an opportunity to get crafty with friends and to add a more personal touch to our wedding décor."Read more...

Today's business and wedding note kinda have the same basic message and I think they are both actually pretty interchangeable - i.e. applicable to both wedding planning and running your own business. I'd love to know what you think in the comments below...even if it's to tell me I'm off my head... FYI I also totally stole/was inspired to think of these ideas from Noa of Feather Love Photography, who's workshop I attended this week. She rules. More on this on the blog soon.Read more...

I have to say that being away from the internet (except the odd sneak on to twitter and facebook) while we were away wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. Well when you're surrounded by locations like these it's not hard to get distracted away from work is it? It was actually kinda nice to go cold turkey and see the real world for a change! However needless to say, I've come home to a bulging goggle reader...and it's like an itch that just had to be scratched. Join me down the internet rabbit hole won't you?Read more...

Walking into Charlotte Casadéjus' unassuming South-East London studio, I felt mostly like my usual old self. Fluffy, flyaway hair, a bloke's jumper, a flick of eyeliner applied on the train - nothing special. But then, it's not often that I feel special.Read more...

The inspiration behind this beautiful Californian wedding, sent over to me by Jerry Yoon Photography, was the ocean. The couple, who met through a mutual friend in Philadelphia and them moved to California, had visited The Monterey Bay Aquarium during their first year living together. "I loved it," the bride told me " the intense blues and greens when you looked down in the water, to the contrasting sand and beaten rocks. I love the ocean and anything relating to it. During that visit, I took a bunch of Polaroid photos at the museum and our walks around Monterey and Pacific Grove. Years later, when we were looking for a location for our wedding, I came across those original Polaroids of Lovers Point Park, and I instantly knew this is where we were getting married."Read more...

Stephanie & Michael's beautiful barn wedding was held at The Lily Barn in Townsend, TN. The stunning surroundings really set the tone for their simple, intimate and classically Southern day. "My favorite thing about planning our wedding was how simple it was", Stephanie wrote. "We really didn’t fret about little details that wouldn’t matter in the end. I was just really looking forward to having all of our friends and family in the same place at the same time!"Read more...

The 1980's isn't as theme you see often in weddings...but after seeing these images of Shelby & Stephen's wedding I think that that is quite frankly a crime. As a child of the 80's I'm instantly taken back to my youth with the ammmazing 80's memorabilia boutonnieres, the cassette tape escort cards, the ghetto blaster flowergirl's basket, the computer game accessories and even the food! All in all this is one damn cool wedding. Hell, they even got thriller-inspired zombies in there!Read more...

Reyna & Michael's intimate wedding had a 1950's and 60's vibe but with a contemporary and romantic twist. "Our general inspiration was our favorite era, mid-century and everything that comes with it: Themusic, the films, the design and architecture, but in a subtle way," the bride told me. "Also, the addition of the birds idea was Michael's because he knows how much I love them."Read more...

I fell head over heels in love with Alex & Sally as soon as I laid my peepers on Sally's Ossie Clark-inspired wedding dress. She had it made especially for her by local dressmaker Barbara F Pellumbi. And just like the dress, the entire wedding was a unique and eclectic representation of the couple. Sally explains, "We were going to go for a Miss Saigon feel meets a tattoo-esque style but in the end it was anything that looked pretty or hard! Birds became a bit of a motif, featuring on the invites, cake and place names. We even had a lovely little stuffed bird in a cage which is where the table places were hung. We were keen to make the club (The Islington Metalworks) looked relaxed, in one area we tried to create an old skool 70's living room complete with Hilda Ogden flying birds on the wall."Read more...

By the time you read this I will be back from the US of A and probably jet-lagged to the hills! I'll be blogging all about my American Adventures really soon, but in the meantime I've got this beautiful Scottish wedding from CandySnaps Photography to share with you. Fiona & Darren were married at Boturich Castle, Alexandria. They were married outside (which in legal in Scotland) and in front of the impressive castle. The bride wore a beautiful gown and veil handmade for her by a friend and vintage jewellery which had belonged to her Grandparents. The groom wore traditional Scottish kilt, the tartan of which was an Irish pattern (Murphy) which was his Grandmother's family name.Read more...
