After the whirlwind of the past fortnight, this week has been a bit of a... OK not 'downer' as such... but just, you know, a very normal one. Getting back from a long trip away invariably means that you have a mountain of work to climb when you return (and emails ahhh so many emails!) so in all honestly I haven't done much except playing hostage to my computer and make grilled cheese sandwiches for tea (domestic goddess? oh yes!)

An Upcycled Ceremony in the Park: Julian & Carolyn

Some of you may recognise Julian & Carolyn as I featured their 'registration of marriage ceremony', a Malaysian tradition, way back in December 2010! Well since then, the couple have been planning the rest of their wedding celebration - an outdoor party held at Kiara Jungle Park in Kuala Lumpur. "For the ceremony itself, we wanted a really cute/funny entrance," Carolyn began. "Our first ideas was to have a few of our friends ride in with their Harley's and then my Dad & I would zip right in with a Vespa and cute 'beep, beep'! Unfortunately (well, fortunately on hindsight) the Vespa we borrowed was giving us some problems, so we didn't go on with the plan... but my friends still came with 4 white Harley's and so I hopped onto to the back and that was my grand entrance!"

A Vintage Tea Party Wedding: Chloe & Emma

After a New Year's Eve proposal ("not at midnight, we're not that cheesy!") Chloe & Emma set to planning their tea party wedding for the end of March. Being two girls, they knew their wedding would stand out and they wanted that as well as to put their own stamp on their day. As Chloe explained "Obviously as two girls getting married our wedding was always going to be a bit different. People kept on asking which one of us was going to wear the suit but we were both determined to be complete princesses on the day. We knew we wanted a vintage tea party wedding and we looked at lots of different ways to achieve it as we had a tight budget. In the end my mum who found Jam and Tea, who provided the tea & cake catering, online (she is an expert Googler) and the rest of the wedding fell into place from there."

With Summer just around the corner, what could be a better shoot to share with you than this gorgeous secret garden shoot? Using antique and vintage piece from Henry Nicholls Antiques in Worthing, the styling had a timeless but quirky feel. Photographer Jayne Sacco told me all about their inspiration, "Anna owns Henry Nicholls Antiques alongside her husband Henry, and her style is all about being individual. She sources a mixture of vintage and retro goods for the store, as well as carefully selected costume jewellery like the Ritzy Crystal jewellery featured in the shoot. Henry has appeared in a number of Antique TV shows from Trash to Cash, Secret Dealers and is a regular antique dealer on ITV Dickson's Real Deal."

I'm not calling today's interview an Inspirations interview because just the thought of me doing that make me die a little inside (!) However on returning from The States on Monday I realised I didn't have an interview lined up this week (whoops!) and on such a short lead time the only person I could turn to to get the answers back to me on time was...well...me. When you set your wedding around a vintage carousel it's pretty much guaranteed to be a fun-filled and awesome day right? That's exactly what Lucy & Mini had when they found Preston Court in Kent, and even the rain couldn't stop them having the time of their lives! "Lucy & Mini chose an outdoor wedding and were married under a pretty little gazebo on Juliana's Island which their guests sat across a little stream to watch," wedding photographer Jennifer West told me. "All was well until there was a huge downpour which soaked all the guests. Luckily everyone saw the funny side. Lucy & Mini walked down the aisle (well, the path) as husband and wife to 'Lucy in the sky with diamonds'. The torrential rain lasted most of the day until the end when the sun came out and lots of fun photos were taken on the carousel while the sun was setting."

I started smoking for the stupidest and most predictable of reasons, the reason I would assume most teenage girls do in fact...in order to look cool. All the anti-smoking adverts and scary warnings about blackened lungs and throat cancer didn't deter me from lighting up alongside my school friends as we walked through the park to school. My addiction raged for 13 years but 20 days ago I decided enough was enough and I quit. Just like that. No patches, no nicotine replacements. Screw the softly softly approach I thought...I went cold turkey and just stopped.

Vivien of Holloway dresses are so beautiful, and many of the lucky bridesmaids in the weddings that I feature get to wear them...however when Abby got married she thought "why should they have all the fun?" and so she opted for a pink floral 50s inspired dress from their collection for her wedding dress! Pairing it with awesome cowboy boots and a faux fur jacket, she looked incredible.

Hi Rock n Roll Bride readers! My name is Michelle and I am marrying Dan this summer in a garden in Scotland (where he proposed in fact!) and we are doing almost everything ourselves. Partly this is because we are trying to save money (more to spend on food and drinks!) and also because getting married is a great excuse to do all sorts of crafty things you wouldn't normally have budget to do! We made a stop-motion video for the save the date (so. much. fun.) but then wanted to send a physical postcard for the actual invite so people have something to keep. I came up with an idea for a scratch-off card - like a lottery ticket - with the prize being the details of our wedding! Dan got totally behind the idea and did most of the fiddly tasks (including cutting out almost a hundred little plastic hearts). We sent them out last week and our guests love them. I've put together a little tutorial for how to make the cards - they were lots of fun to make and came out looking quite professional-looking!

I could drink up this wedding and be satisfied for days...And with the event taking place at a venue called Paradise Gardens, is it any wonder? "Our wedding day was a wonderful accumulation of memories that we will embrace forever," Linda told me. "We’re beyond grateful for the love we have for one another and the natural way it shone through onthat day. I feel that every aspect of the wedding screamed us - from the lotus field, to the sounds of Devendra Banhart wailing, to the venue bathed in tea land gold! Our venue was amazing and we were ecstatic to have found this exotic little gem tucked away in the hills of Oceanside."

The Yorkshire wedding of Kate & Daniel took place in April at Victoria Hall, Saltaire. The bride's look was undeniably 60s with a bespoke mod style wedding dress made for her by one of her bridesmaids, and genuine vintage shoes, jewellery and a veil sourced from the shop her bridesmaid owns, Glory Days Vintage.
