Positive Peer Pressure

Kat

Chris Barber

June 3, 2014

When you’re a teenager, peer pressure sucks. That constant squeeze from your peers to act the same, think the same, be the same as them. It forces you to fit in, to conform, to not be your own weird 'n wonderful self. As an impressionable, confidence-lacking 14 year old, peer pressure can define you. It can make you take up smoking (yep), start drinking (er... yep), sneak out of class and lie to your parents (yep, er... yep!) I think we can all look back on those times and realise that peer pressure was actually a form of bullying, dressed up with a more socially acceptable name. And bullying sucks. Period.

DIY Vintage Shabby Chic Wedding: Erin & Jon

May 29, 2014

I fell in love with Erin and Jon's budget wedding as soon as I saw it - I loved the cute, affordable and easy-to-DIY details, the beautiful venue and the bride's lilac dress (which was actually a bridesmaid's dress from J Crew). The day was held at Shadowbrook Restaurant in Captiola, California on the bride's birthday (!) and was planned, in the most part, by her mother. So, when she told me that she and her gorgeous husband, Ian, were renewing their vows in Thailand I was really, really excited. Excited for them because they'd finally have the epic photographs they deserved, but extra excited for me and you because I knew she'd let me blog it!

May 27, 2014

The Blogcademy started as an in-person workshop. Bursting into the world in October 2012, we hosted our inaugural class in New York City. But when we flung open those metaphorical turquoise doors, we really had no idea if it would take off. We actually joked the day before that if no-one booked in we'd just have an elaborate sleepover in the space we'd hired and the internet would never know a thing about it. Luckily for us that didn't happen! Sixteen classes later and we've now taught over 400 amazing people all over the world. It's been an incredible ride so far but you ain't seen nothin' yet!

May 24, 2014

Stonehenge, the prehistoric monument in Wiltshire, England, had always fascinated Shawna and Kevin. They flew over from the US to marry there. "It is nearly impossible to describe how it felt to walk among stones that have stood there for millennia", Shawna wrote. "They have seen empires collapse, civilizations come and go, and yet, there they stand. And while they are not as perfectly placed as they once were thousands of years ago, they are still there and will be for a long time to come. We were, and are, in awe."
