Jay Emme

September 18, 2014

A true DIY wedding, Claire-Josephine, Nick and their families made a lot of the details for their big day themselves. The stationery was made by the bride's aunt and the groom, and the favours by the mother of the groom. The cake was made by a member of the church choir and the bride helped design her own dress and headpiece which were made for her by her friend Keli Thompson, who has just launched her own wedding couture company.

I've been in love with The Roost for years. I've featured many super cool weddings that have been held there, but I was yet to have the pleasure to actually visit it myself. Every time I'd get submitted an event in the former Victorian pub in Dalston, I'd pour over the photos, eagerly eyeing up the gorgeous furniture, the quirky décor and the eclectic mix of art work and props that are littered around the space,

Rainbow loving babes, stop what you are doing! The day has finally come, my brand new collection with Crown and Glory is ready for you to get your glittery paws on! When Sophie and I sat down to brainstorm the new designs, we came up with the idea of a collection specifically aimed at bridesmaids. While that's not to say brides can't wear these (or you can't wear them every day - I have been!) we noticed there was a distinct lack of super cool, colourful and affordable accessories specifically for bridesmaids... so we decided to do something about it!

Humanist Elopement in Scotland: Jessica & Dashiell

September 13, 2014

Jessica and Dashiell eloped in June at Migdale Water Mill Cottage in Migdale, Scotland. The bride wore a gorgeous vintage dress from the 1930s. "After calculating the cost of a big wedding for family and friends, we agreed that we’d be much happier spending 1/3 of the cost for a small ceremony in the Highlands", she said. "It was simpler and more appropriate to find a beautiful location rather than to attempt to make a location beautiful."

Bohemian Festival Wedding with Entertainment A-Plenty: Chris & Emmy

Kat

Kari Bellamy

September 12, 2014

Chris and Emmy were married early in the day, so they wanted to lay on lots of entertainment for their guests. "We wanted a day that was relaxed, fun and family-friendly", wrote the bride. "We had our humanist hand fasting ceremony at 10:30 in the morning, so we wanted to make sure there was plenty for our guests to do throughout the day. We go to a lot of festivals and run a dance tent with my family called the Griffin Tent, so we used that as a starting point, using the marquee and having a pub quiz and live bands in the afternoon. The river running through Loudwater Farm is the same river we both played in as children (we've known each other since we were 11!), so we had fishing nets and wellies for everyone to paddle. We added archery, circus toys, dreamcatcher making and an art and crafts den, and finished up with a silent disco."

Life Doesn’t Wait For You To ‘Get Thin’. Life Is Happening Right Now.

September 11, 2014

Dear Kat So, this cuts pretty close to the bone. I'm off to New York with my husband this Autumn and I was thinking about hiring a photographer for a shoot. I was thinking this earlier in the year, when I was also planning on dropping a couple of stone, and needless to say with a particularly stressful wedding season (I'm a wedding photographer myself) and one thing or another its almost time for the trip and I have not lost a pound.

One of my favourite things to do is speaking at events. As someone who used to suffer from crippling stage fright (and would avoid public speaking at all costs at school) this has been nothing but a surprise to me, let me tell you! But once you get over the anxiety, it really is super fun! Which is why I was thrilled when the babes at Flourish and Prosper asked me to be involved their workshop, The Wedding Academy. This is the first business workshop specifically aimed at people in the wedding industry, and I for one can't wait to attend!

Colourful Heart Themed Wedding in the Czech Republic: Markéta & Sam

September 8, 2014

Markéta and Sam said "I do" within the Ruins of Castle Košumberk in the Czech Republic. Their colourful theme represented the two of them, and overall their theme was love and hearts! "We love colourful things and bright styles so our theme for the wedding could be called a heartfelt kaleidoscope meets 50s twist and shout!", Markéta said. "Hearts were easy. I love Melissa shoes and I just loved my wedding shoes. When Sam proposed I ordered them just two days after. They have a big cute heart and so we decided a heart theme for the whole wedding sounded good.
