Are you ready for some serious wedding envy? Don't say I didn't warn you... Brooke and Spencer had a lunchtime wedding in Texas in June, "I met Spencer at summer camp in Ardmore when I was 13 and he was 14. We had a friendship spanning over 10+ years until we both ended up in San Marcos, Texas where our friendship grew into something more. Our ceremony was performed by one of the counsellors from that summer camp!"

Unpretentious & Family-Focused DIY Wedding in Anglesey: Anna & Adam

Nick Tucker

November 13, 2014

I'm not gonna lie, I've been looking forward to featuring Anna and Adam's wedding for a while. Anna is a wedding photographer herself, and I'm a big fan of her work, so I knew her own wedding would be something special. The wedding was 100% DIY. They picked a venue that wasn't specifically for weddings, but meant a great deal for them. They didn't want to spend a lot of money, so did most things as frugally as possible. Their main concern was that the day involved all the special people in their lives. The wedding took place by the sea in Anglesey in May. "We didn't have a wedding theme as such", began Anna, "we just wanted it to be colourful, relaxed, fun, full of laughs, unpretentious, family-focused and very much DIY and personalised to us and the people and things we love. We wanted everyone there to feel special and comfortable and get involved as much as they wanted to. Lots of weddings focus just on the bride and groom, but to us it was also very much a day about our wonderful group of friends and family. We’re both incredibly close to them and it was really important to us to celebrate the fact that we weren't just coming together as a couple, but also as part of a precious larger community."

Do I Really Have To Blog?

November 11, 2014

As a small business owner utilising visually driven social media platforms such as Pinterest, Instagram and Facebook is undoubtedly important. However I've started to notice a massive decline in the one thing that started it all; blogging. While I used to love reading my favourite business owners blogs, these days more and more of them appear to be neglected. Their owners have abandoned them for the bright lights and instant gratitude of social media.

The Quirky

November 8, 2014

When it comes to me accepting submissions to feature on this blog, I always ask myself the same two simple questions: Will my readers like this? And are there ideas in here that people can actually apply to their own weddings? More and more these days, I'm only able to answer yes to both these questions with the real weddings I'm sent. However sometimes, just sometimes, a styled wedding shoot fits the bill as well.

Relaxed Gourmet Food Festival Wedding in South Africa: Rosie & Bryce

November 7, 2014

Rosie and Bryce had many influences for their South African wedding, but most of all they wanted a day that was fun and relaxed and one where there was plenty of good food! "The inspiration for our wedding came from multiples sources", began the bride. "Namely; our 5 years together in Dubai, my time living and working Venice, Italy and our travels there, the countless markets we've experienced, and most importantly our upbringing. We didn't deviate drastically from the norm, but we definitely threw a celebration that was unusual in the South Africa context."

November 7, 2014

Mark and Chai both love everything about the 1970s, so it was clear that this had to be their wedding theme. They were married in Manilla in March. "Our wedding was a DIY 70s hippie-themed day", began the bride. "We jokingly called it 'hippy ever after'! We love all the elements of the 70s: the music, colours, vibe, and art, and having all these in our wedding made it very unique, unpretentious, and very ‘us’. Both of us wish we were born in the 70s and our wedding actualised that dream!"

Thursday Treats: Practising What I Preach

Kat

November 6, 2014

Going from the past month or so of absolute chaos to this week, which has been relatively quiet, has been odd. That's not to say I haven't been keeping myself occupied (that magazine and this blog ain't gonna write themselves!) but I've said no to every invitation, turned down meetings and spent 99.9% of my time in my house, wearing sequinned sweatpants. Last week I wrote about how being busy and 'in-demand' is not an indication of how valuable you are as a person, and I've been trying to practice what I preach.

The 7 Dos and Don’ts Of Buying A Wedding Dress Online

Shell De Mar

November 6, 2014

There's something undeniably magical about going to a fancy bridal boutique, sipping champagne and trying on beautiful, exquisitely made, designer wedding dresses. But for a lot of brides - who can't or don't want to - the mere idea of dropping £3000 on a dream dress is completely out of the question! I think it’s good to have options and so instead of just blindly writing about it, I actually wanted try it out for myself. I ordered two dresses from Adorona.com, based in Shanghai, who sell made-to-measure and customisable dresses online.

November 5, 2014

Rachel and Luke were married in a field at Fernhill Farm in Somerset. They had their ceremony outside and their reception and after party in she sheep shearing barn! "Our legal ceremony was very low key at a registry office in Bristol the day before the wedding so we could have a personal ceremony at the wedding venue", began the bride. "We asked our friend Doug Francisco, Ringmaster of the The Invisible Circus, to guide our unofficial vows."
