There must be something in the water because I've now featured three brides with blue hair in the past week. Well, it is the best hair colour after all! The reason I fell in love with this wedding has nothing to do with Kaylee's tresses though, and everything to do with the fact that they had the most kick ass day, on a minuscule budget. I love sharing weddings like this because they prove that it is completely possible to have an awesome wedding without spending a fortune. You just have to prioritise what you really want (in Kaylee and Jake's case their only big expense was the photography) and be smart about where you get everything else. The bride found her wedding dress in a vintage store for £20 for example!!

Berlin is probably one of the coolest places I've ever been. There's this crazy juxtaposition of the old, overgrown and almost derelict looking architecture, with a really unique arty and creative vibe. Nearly everything is covered in graffiti or art of some kind. Jamie and Angi's wedding couldn't be more Berlin if it tried. I adore everything about it!

I often get asked what the most alternative wedding I've ever featured is. As while there are some that always stick out in my mind (killer Vegas elopement, bride in a coffin, surprise ceremony!) that's not really what Rock n Roll Bride is about. Yes, I love the crazy, unique stuff, but I equally adore the cute little weddings where it's clear the couple have put their heart and soul into it, and planned a wedding that truly reflects them. That's exactly what Kieran and Sarah did and the result was gorgeous.

Anna and Jack wanted a fun wedding with a party atmosphere. So they hired their venue, Inshriach House, for the entire week, and stayed there in the run up with some of their guests. "We wanted the wedding to be a big fun party with as many of our nearest and dearest as possible", Anna said. "We wanted our personalities and sense of humour to shine through. We wanted to get to married in the highlands, near my hometown of Kingussie and we felt the best way to do this was to organise most things ourselves and to have equal input and responsibility."

Do you know what day it is today? ROCK N ROLL BRIDE MAGAZINE LAUNCH DAY!!! The journey of this magazine from a small idea in 2011 to what it is now is quite a story. It actually started it's life as a free handout that I gave away at a wedding fair, but it was so popular, and the reaction online so massive, that I went on to self-publish a yearly magazine. I did this twice, once in 2012 and again in 2013. Then over the Summer last year, I got a call from a publishers who wanted to help me to take it national, aka make it a bi-monthly mag and put it in real life shops all over the UK! This little baby of mine has all grown up and blossomed into a fully fledged, legitimate wedding magazine! Oh and I'm in charge! Uh oh...

Yey! You’re engaged… Now what? You’re probably feeling a heady mix of emotions right now – excitement, anticipation, joy, terror!? While everyone you speak to will kindly remind you that this will be the happiest time in your life, you’ll soon be feeling that inevitable wave of panic too. It’s perfectly normal to be a little bit scared and overwhelmed at this stage. I mean, how on Earth do you even start to plan a wedding!? Yes, there is an enormous amount to do in a relatively short period of time but come on, if I can do it, you certainly can too. The most important thing to remember is that this is just one day. Your wedding will not define the rest of your life. It should be a nice starting off point for your marriage. But I know how it feels, and once the happy glow of getting engaged starts to wear off, it’s all too easy to fall into the trap of hyperventilating over guest lists, seating arrangements and finding that one perfect dress.

Lacey and Josh didn't want to have a stressful time planning their wedding. Initially they wanted to elope, but instead decided to have a wedding that was relaxed and intimate, and that truly reflected them as a couple. "We wanted our wedding to be about us and the commitment we were making to one another", began Lacey. "We didn't want all of the added fluff that comes with the most traditional weddings. John and Lucy were married at Larmer Tree Gardens in Wiltshire in September. They chose it because it had the pretty outside space that they wanted, and they were able to say their vows outside (which isn't always possible in the UK!) in their covered pavilion. "We are both artists, I paint and John is a photographer, and we are both deeply inspired by nature", said Lucy. "I am also borderline obsessed with the vision of an enchanted forest so we wanted our wedding to feel like a blurry childhood memory of a place that was so beautiful and fantastical that you're not sure whether it was real or not. We fell in love with Larmer Tree Gardens the minute we clapped eyes on it. There were peacocks and parrots roaming around so we used a loose theme based on the colours of the peacocks plumage by having the boys in teal and the girls in royal blue."
