Retro, Mexican and The Beatles Inspired Wedding

Hearts on Fire

January 16, 2015

Loving all things retro, Lucy and Michael always knew that would be the theme of her wedding. When it came to actually planning their big day though, they wanted it to be unique so they threw in some colourful Mexican influences for good measure! They had a mariachi band, their decoration was colourful and they even served a Mexican inspired buffet feast! The groom's love of The Beatles couldn't be ignored, so the bride walked down the aisle to one of their sings and their tables were named after Beatles albums.

Kat

January 15, 2015

Last Thursday was just a little bit of an exciting day for me, which meant I totally forgot about Thursday Treats. I would say sorry... but, you know... I published a goddamn magazine so its more of a case of #sorrynotsorry actually! Last week was an utter whirlwind. The comments from those of you that got your mitts on a copy were unbelievable and very, very overwhelming. So thank you so much for that. I'm so glad you all love it as much as I do! ALSO, issue 1 sold out online in just FOUR DAYS!!

January 14, 2015

If you've been reading this blog for a while, you'll already know how much of an advocate I am to the value of wedding photography. I've covered the topic multiple times before. However I also know that a lot of you are on a strict budget, and as much as you would love to be able to book your dream wedding photographer, it's just not financially viable. Which is why I was utterly overjoyed when Reading (holla!!) based wedding photographer Andreea Virna of VeVi Wedding Photography got in touch wanting to offer an amazing plethora of photography prizes (try saying that fast five times!) to Rock n Roll Bride readers.

A new year is upon us so it's the perfect time to clear the decks and start to make plans for progressing your business. The "new year, new me" mindset will only get you so far though. You have to set some goals and have some plans, but then you actually have to go out and make them happen too. Super Budget, Totally Kick Ass Alice in Wonderland Wedding

Assassynation

January 12, 2015

There must be something in the water because I've now featured three brides with blue hair in the past week. Well, it is the best hair colour after all! The reason I fell in love with this wedding has nothing to do with Kaylee's tresses though, and everything to do with the fact that they had the most kick ass day, on a minuscule budget. I love sharing weddings like this because they prove that it is completely possible to have an awesome wedding without spending a fortune. You just have to prioritise what you really want (in Kaylee and Jake's case their only big expense was the photography) and be smart about where you get everything else. The bride found her wedding dress in a vintage store for £20 for example!!

Retro Village Fête Wedding in Wales

Tracy Weston

I often get asked what the most alternative wedding I've ever featured is. As while there are some that always stick out in my mind (killer Vegas elopement, bride in a coffin, surprise ceremony!) that's not really what Rock n Roll Bride is about. Yes, I love the crazy, unique stuff, but I equally adore the cute little weddings where it's clear the couple have put their heart and soul into it, and planned a wedding that truly reflects them. That's exactly what Kieran and Sarah did and the result was gorgeous.

The Kitcheners

January 10, 2015

Anna and Jack wanted a fun wedding with a party atmosphere. So they hired their venue, Inshriach House, for the entire week, and stayed there in the run up with some of their guests. "We wanted the wedding to be a big fun party with as many of our nearest and dearest as possible", Anna said. "We wanted our personalities and sense of humour to shine through. We wanted to get to married in the highlands, near my hometown of Kingussie and we felt the best way to do this was to organise most things ourselves and to have equal input and responsibility."

Rock n Roll Bride Magazine ON SALE TODAY!

Kat

January 8, 2015

Do you know what day it is today? ROCK N ROLL BRIDE MAGAZINE LAUNCH DAY!!! The journey of this magazine from a small idea in 2011 to what it is now is quite a story. It actually started it's life as a free handout that I gave away at a wedding fair, but it was so popular, and the reaction online so massive, that I went on to self-publish a yearly magazine. I did this twice, once in 2012 and again in 2013. Then over the Summer last year, I got a call from a publishers who wanted to help me to take it national, aka make it a bi-monthly mag and put it in real life shops all over the UK! This little baby of mine has all grown up and blossomed into a fully fledged, legitimate wedding magazine! Oh and I'm in charge! Uh oh...

Wedding Planning Advice for the Newly Engaged

Kat

Eric Ronald

January 6, 2015

Yey! You’re engaged… Now what? You’re probably feeling a heady mix of emotions right now – excitement, anticipation, joy, terror!? While everyone you speak to will kindly remind you that this will be the happiest time in your life, you’ll soon be feeling that inevitable wave of panic too. It’s perfectly normal to be a little bit scared and overwhelmed at this stage. I mean, how on Earth do you even start to plan a wedding!? Yes, there is an enormous amount to do in a relatively short period of time but come on, if I can do it, you certainly can too. The most important thing to remember is that this is just one day. Your wedding will not define the rest of your life. It should be a nice starting off point for your marriage. But I know how it feels, and once the happy glow of getting engaged starts to wear off, it’s all too easy to fall into the trap of hyperventilating over guest lists, seating arrangements and finding that one perfect dress.

Seriously Pretty Nature-Inspired Rooftop Wedding

Erin & Ray

January 6, 2015

Lacey and Josh didn't want to have a stressful time planning their wedding. Initially they wanted to elope, but instead decided to have a wedding that was relaxed and intimate, and that truly reflected them as a couple. "We wanted our wedding to be about us and the commitment we were making to one another", began Lacey. "We didn't want all of the added fluff that comes with the most traditional weddings. Instead we focused on having a very small, intimate (but still awesome!) celebration with our closest friends and family."
