A brand-new decade is here and it's made us come over all nostalgic. Rock n Roll Bride was launched in 2007, so we've seen a hell of a lot of wedding themes and trends come and go. With the help of our friends at Most Curious (who are pretty darn excellent at predicting trends IMHO) we thought it would be fun to look back at the last ten years and have a bit of a laugh at our own expense. For your viewing pleasure, here's a nostalgic glance back at the last decade in wedding style.Read more...

Your wedding alone doesn’t have the power to save the world, but it does have the power to make you, your partner, and your guests very happy, and in the process, the choices you make for how to celebrate can help the wedding industry, a place known for its gender stereotypes, sexism, consumerism, ableism, and racism become a little less terrible.Read more...

Through thick forests and ancient worlds and feelings that live just beyond the tips of your fingers, books can share some of the most exciting emotions and depths. As a diversity advocate I often get asked how to fuse cultures together without them looking like, ‘mish-mash’. How to respectfully celebrate cultures that might not be your own without appropriating.Read more...

Last week, an article allegedly published by an Irish wedding magazine in their Winter 2018 issue went viral. In it, the writer had some sage (ahem) advice for wedding night sex. My favourite comments being that obviously you'll be a virgin, you should absolutely forget the foreplay and that you might want to consider a sex tape because, ya know, your hair will be all on fleek and shit.Read more...

This week (May 14th-20th) is Mental Health Awareness week in the UK so I thought it was the perfect opportunity to revisit this article. Written for Rock n Roll Bride magazine issue 18 by body positive blogger Megan Jayne Crabbe (aka @bodyposipanda), the message is something I've been proudly fighting for since the inception of this blog - that you do not have to lose weight for your wedding!Read more...

If the Kardashian-Jenner’s and the Bridget Jones’s of the world have taught us anything, it’s that today, the unconventional family is far more conventional than ever before. However when it comes to planning your wedding, many elements only seem to work for a very traditional family set up. Zoe Wells is here today to help us navigate what can be very tricky waters.Read more...

As the founder of a wedding show, it can be hard to reconcile my career of choice with my feminist beliefs. I can sometimes feel myself explaining what I do with an element of guilt, almost apologising for my role in sending more sisters off to the patriarchal shackles. But The Most Curious Wedding Fair takes the idea of a wedding day and offers it up to couples to own it, and this allows me to rest easy in our quest for equality. So, I thought it would be interesting to look at how women in 2018 can and are reconciling their empowered selves with those wedding rituals less palatable to the bad ass bride.Read more...

Lame wedding music gives us the sads. It's not easy to find love songs that stand out from typical lovey-dovey wedding crap. If it's not teeth-rotting candy, it's done-to-death repeats from internet wedding song lists. If you've got an allergy to clichéd wedding songs, you'll find the antidote here. Startling as it may seem, there are plenty of interesting wedding songs if you know where to look. We've put together a list of quirky, alternative and authentic songs for daring lovers. It’s taken some intensive research and lot of late night wine and dancing, but it was worth it. We hope you enjoy folks, and there’s a spotify playlist to make your life easier.Read more...

Boudoir shoots are nothing new. Hell, I had one when I was engaged in 2007 (and no I'm not going to show you them!) While lots of brides might consider doing them, I'd have to hasten a guess that a lot of you reading this might have dismissed the idea as something silly, vein and super embarrassing. While in 2007 the main marketing push for boudoir photos was an "a gift for your man" (vom) ten years later and I'd still like to encourage you to consider doing one, but as a gift for YOURSELF.Read more...
