Rosie Parsons Shoot – The Results!

March 24, 2009

I have been checking Rosie Parson’s website literally every 5 minutes today hoping to see some of the results from our photo shoot yesterday..and she just emailed me so show me some of the photographs!

Aren’t these fantastic?! She is such a talented lady (although I do think I look moody in a couple of these..maybe because it was so cold, although I could just be being too self-critical!)  Gareth said I look like I should be on the front cover of a magazine – yeah right, like any wedding magazine would put a pink haired Bride on their cover!

A huge thanks to Becky Simpson for working her magic on my quiff and to Sarah Brock for making me model-like with her make up brushes!
My shoes are by Shoe Missy (but you know that, you’ve seen them before!)

Thanks for the fantastic day Rosie, and I can’t wait to see more more more!

A Cold Day In Bognor…

February 14, 2009

I was going to wait until I had been sent more of the results, but I’m so excited about how these have turned out that I have to post them right away!

Yesterday afternoon, myself and David got in my rickety little ford ka and traipsed down to Bognor Regis (nice name huh?) to get some new shots to use on the site and for some up and coming (and very exciting) Rock ‘n Roll Bride promotion (more info on this to come very soon!)  It took us about 2 hours to get there and I’d been up since 4.30 am for my ‘day job’. YAAAWN!

We got there at about 3.30pm and found a hotel that allowed me to get changed in their toilet and doll myself up.  It was rather hilarious trying to get me into the dress again – I didn’t have a lacing lesson a needless to say David was as clueless as me, I did get stuck a few times!  I have to say, this shoot really made me love my dress again, I’d almost forgotten how bloody gorgeous it is.  We headed out to the pier, a rough a ready looking wall and the sea front for a variety of shots and styles.  I was bloooooody freeeeezing by the end but I think you’ll agree it was all worth it!  I am SO happy with the results, aren’t they fantastic!?  We were so lucky with the light – it really made the photographs.

My fabulous shoes were personalised by the amazing Shoe Missy.  I actually only ordered them on Wednesday thinking I wouldn’t get them on time for the shoot, but I figured I could use them another time.  However when Anna, the shoe designer heard about the shoot she rushed the order through and was able to get them shipped to me in time to use.  They arrived only half an hour before we had to leave, lucky huh!?  We were SO happy we could use the shoes – they really became a feature of the photographs.

Anyway, enough of my ramblings, I’m sure you’re dying to see them right?  Well here they are…weep at the fabulousness!

Thursday Treats: Photo Booths, Karaoke and Monster Hangovers

December 5, 2013

photo booth crazy

Greetings from hangover HQ! Last night I was in Brighton on my first Christmas party of the year with the Photography Farm crew. There was a photo booth, karaoke and wine… oh so much wine. It was an utter blast but of course I’m suffering for it today. In fact all I’m really capable of is lounging on the sofa and indulging in some lovely internet procrastination – won’t you join me?

A Simple Brighton Wedding: Holly & Patrick

October 4, 2011

Holly & Patrick were married in Brighton. They didn’t really stick to a particular theme for their wedding, they simply included things they love. They wanted to keep the day simple and stress-free, as the bride explains, “We didn’t have a theme, and we didn’t say anything had to be a certain way. My dress was handmade on me, through chatting, drawings and ideas, by my friend Aimee who trained at London College of Fashion. Patrick chose his suit because he was definite that he wanted a ‘mod’ suit. It was all done very organically, and it was perfect. Somebody suggested I wear a long sleeve, high necked dress to cover my tattoos but I declined the suggestion and went for as low a back as possible.”

“I handmade all the invitations and the place names/wedding favours. This was to cut out unnecessary costs and because I love being creative. I used Brighton beach pebbles and decorated them with 3D copper paint with guests names on. As a treat we both also had a complimentary pre-wedding pamper (facial) from Elemis in their Brighton Spa-Pod – which was a gift from our photographers Horse and Carriage Wedding Photography.”

Kelly & John’s Simple & Home-Grown Wedding

February 23, 2011

“Basically our tastes tend towards simplicity and we’re blessed to be surrounded by loving, creative people who helped the wedding feel very ‘us.’ …very down-home, cornfields & college towns… us” explained newlywed’s Kelly & John when I asked them about their wedding inspiration.

The couple were married at St. Patrick Church, Urbana, IL. “We grew up in neighboring suburbs, went to undergrad together, and then Kelly moved to the city for a grant while John continued studying at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign,” they continued. “As our future home, at least for a few years, Urbana was perfect for the wedding. Central Illinois was far enough from home to be out of the often over-commercialized urban wedding market, yet close enough for our family to make a day trip. Plus, we really liked the Irish influence at St. Patrick, a small, beautiful church in our neighbourhood.” Following the service, the wedding party headed to their reception at Silvercreek Restaurant, the couple’s favourite restaurant. The chef prepared three richly paired dinners from some of their favourite seasonal food.

Kelly wanted to be comfortable and untraditional in her wedding day look and she found her dress on her very first try, soon after she got engaged from Mikaella Bridal. “On a whim, I visited a bridal shop near my hometown with John’s Mom and sister. Certainly not one for strapless, cupcake dresses, I asked the owner to recommend something simple. I definitely wasn’t expecting to find my dress, let alone have it be the first one! I tried on a few more afterwards, but ended up choosing this super-light, taffeta gown…which turned out to not even need alterations!” With her perfect dress she wore flat shoes as Kelly said she wanted to be comfortable!

To keep in with their simple theme, the couple chose to DIY a lot of their wedding. They designed and printed their own Save the Dates & invitations using Vistaprint, created their own wedsite using sites.google.com to manage the RSVP’s and provide their guests with extra information on their day, and home made all other paper goods like the order of services and table  numbers. Kelly’s Dad even built a display frame for the place cards which were caligraphied by her Mum. Finally the couple tasked members of their families also collected small personal items for the reception which also really made the day a perfect reflection of them.
