“The inspiration for this shoot really came from a morning cuppa with me and Hayley from Vintage Scoops , who owns a vintage ice cream van,” photographer Shaneen Rosewarne Cox writes. “We became friends via Twitter and discovered that we live very close by. I couldn’t resist a look at her fab ice cream van ‘Betty’ so we met up a few times. One morning over tea and lemon drizzle cake we decided to put together a shoot. ‘Betty’ is such a soft, pretty and summery ice cream van so we wanted to create a shoot that contradicted everything wedding-y.”
“Hayley is friends with Greg and Suzie from Lifestyle Salons and they very kindly let us use their gorgeous salon in Newport Pagnall to get the models ready. They’re very creative and lovely stylist Hayley did such an amazing job on the model’s hair. They both looked incredible!”
“When Hayley and I started to put the shoot together we put a call out for make up artists on Twitter. I can’t believe how lucky we were that Ana Ospina Ruiz (Milena) jumped at the chance. I gave her a very vague spec to just make the girls look colourful. She did such a great job, the lip ‘tattoos’ looked great.”
“Hayley also came across Mr Christian (dresses) at a previous wedding she had worked out and we were thrilled that he was happy to lend us a couple of dresses for the shoots.”
“The shoot took place at Milton Keynes Bus station. They have a legal graffiti wall that is changed every so often and it made for the perfect backdrop.”
Thank you to Shaneen, Hayley and the whole team for sharing this shoot with us today.

Alternative Asian Bridal Shoot
Kat
October 6, 2012
We don't get to see a whole lot of alternative Asian wedding inspiration, so I was thrilled when I received this bridal shoot with an edge from School of Rock graduate Rabbia Ali Shah from the Asian Wedding Ideas blog.
"Seeing the same Asian bridal images can start to get a little repetitive", wrote Rabbia, "and the idea of something a little edgier is one that I had been thinking about for a while. Getting people on board wasn't the easiest of task but getting in touch with wedding photographer Priti Shikotra, changed all that. She had similar thoughts about a shoot."

Chi Chi Revolver’s Tattooed Bridal Shoot

"I was really inspired reading the winning entry to your Knot Couture dress competition recently," photographer Bethan of Haywood Jones Photography told me. "It was hard to picture how it would feel to be made so uncomfortable in a shop who were clearly disapproving of you, thinking we live in a properly modern society (!) until it happened to me last weekend (not because I have beautiful body art sadly, but much more because I was dressed a bit scruffily and went into a very posh art shop. They actually got another member of security to stand in the shop while me and my friend walked around!!) It suddenly became clear that you really can't judge a book by its cover and that even though the *mainstream* wedding industry is becoming more accepting of the *alternative* side of peoples wedding creativity and gorgeousness, there are still many blinkered people out there who wont look past stereotypes and make you feel less than worthy of their attention."

If you're a regular reader of Rock n Roll Bride I'm sure you'll already be aware of the amazing Emma Case (she shot the image that I'm currently using as my blog header/my 'Punk Rock n Roll Bride' shoot) and Lucy Ledger Designs. Lucy makes gorgeously creative vintage-inspired stationary (I've also been lucky enough to feature her before as well as meet her in actual real life!) After Lucy saw Emma's work on Rock n Roll Bride she got in touch asking if they could get together to do a promotional shoot for her vintage stationary company. Hello!? Match made in vintage Rock n Roll heaven or what!?
