I fell head over heels in love with Alex & Sally as soon as I laid my peepers on Sally’s Ossie Clark- inspired wedding dress. She had it made especially for her by local dressmaker Barbara F Pellumbi .
And just like the dress, the entire wedding was a unique and eclectic representation of the couple. Sally explains, “We were going to go for a Miss Saigon feel meets a tattoo-esque style but in the end it was anything that looked pretty or hard!”
“Birds became a bit of a motif, featuring on the invites, cake and place names. We even had a lovely little stuffed bird in a cage which is where the table places were hung. We were keen to make the club (The Islington Metalworks ) looked relaxed, in one area we tried to create an old skool 70’s living room complete with Hilda Ogden flying birds on the wall.”
The lucky couple have a number of very talented friends who they called on to help out in various areas of the wedding. For example the stationery was all designed by a friend, Heather, who runs her own card design company called Homeloves. Their friend Lara helped them to source all the table decorations and another friend Georgina, who is an artist, lent them a number of her own paintings to decorate the venue.
Thank you so much to the gorgeous Sally & Alex and their photographer Sassy of Assassynation for sharing this wedding with us today.

Mark & Ania didn't particularly want a theme for their wedding, but what they did want was a relaxed and laid back wedding with all their friends and family. They chose Islington town hall as their ceremony venue as the north east of London is one of their favourite areas of the city. For their reception they headed to AK Rowing Club which is right on the bank of the Thames in Hammersmith.

Tattoos & Toadstools: Toni & Colin

Tattoos, tears and a seriously cute couple. Toni & Colin's wedding is what my dreams are made of. These guys are THE perfect Rock n Roll couple and they're wedding slays me. Plus they had Sassy of Assassynation as their wedding photographer so they instantly go way up in the cool stakes with me!
The wedding was held at The Quay, Musselburgh, on 10th November. "Colin and I met online what feels like a life time ago but wasn't all that long ago in the grand scheme of things", Toni began. "We spoke for a month or so online and then he made plans to come over from Northern Ireland to visit me in Edinburgh. 'I'll come for the weekend,' he said. Well, he arrived and he's yet to leave! We've lived together from day one and, including the night before the wedding, we are yet to spend one single night apart. It's a good job he makes me laugh as much as he does!"

A DIY Village Hall Wedding & A Bride Who Designed her own Dress: Laura & Mike

September 25, 2012
A village hall reception venue, a bride who designed her own dress and a groom who found his entire outfit in charity shops - oh I am so excited about Laura & Mike's amazing wedding! Is it just me or are the low key, budget friendly and full of love weddings winning over the high-maintenance, super detail heavy weddings right now?
"I am a huge geek and one of the things I am most geeky about is design, craft and making things", wrote newlywed Laura. " So when Mike proposed at a picnic in Kensington Gardens just after our 6 year anniversary, the mother of all craft projects was born!

Regula & Bruno’s Creative, Spooky & Wonderful Wedding (Part One)

"Regula & Bruno rock my world"...that's how photographer Assassynation introduced me to this bad ass couple when she sent me their wedding. The pair are from Belgium but wanted to be married in England. Their ceremony day was followed by a tea party reception and spooky photo shoot in an abandoned fairground (!) in their home country a few weeks later. Luckily for us all, this second part took place just last weekend and believe me, I'm going to be featuring it just as soon as the photos are ready!
But for now, it's all about the ceremony...

Homemade Crumbling Chapel Wedding: Wendy & Alex

October 1, 2013
When Wendy and Alex started looking for a venue for their July wedding, they were stuck. They wanted somewhere quirky and creative but also somewhere that didn't break the bank. Luckily they stumbled across Asylym Arts in North London, a disused chapel that is now hired out for weddings and events. The space has a crumbling almost derelict vibe which they loved. The dramatic backdrop meant they didn't need to decorate much, so they just added candles, tea lights and simple flower arrangements around the room.

A Pink & Leopard Print Themed DIY Wedding: Ele & Raph

July 23, 2012
As soon as I saw the sneak peek of Ele & Raph's wedding on their wedding photographer's facebook page, I knew I wanted to feature them... it's not really that difficult to see why is it? Could these guys be any more Rock n Roll if they tried?! The couple booked Rock n Roll Bride favourite Assassynation to capture their amazing day.
"What a great pleasure it was to have Sassy do the photography on our special day! I felt at ease as soon as I met her", began the bride. "Upon speaking to my (camera shy!) husband afterwards, he said exactly the same about Sassy, that she jumped at every opportunity to get that perfect shot and with simple instructions made him feel comfortable and contented. Ecstatic with the sneak peeks that Sassy had uploaded within less than 24 hours (wow!) onto her Facebook page, we both knew that Sassy is one Rock n Roll photographer and it would not have been the same without her!"

Flamingos & Fun: Charlotte & Luke

November 12, 2012
"I got married in August", said pink haired Blogcademy attendee Charlotte after the workshop was over. "Your blog was a huge help so thank you."
"Amazing, I responded - make sure you send me your photographs!"
And she did, and oh boy am I glad. What a wedding!
"Our wedding theme was decided on a drunken weekend in Palm Springs in May when we were on a work trip", Charlotte told me. "We ordered 50 pink plastic lawn flamingos to be delivered to the Ace Hotel… then panicked when they arrived and we had to buy four huge holdalls to take them back on the plane! I was convinced customs would think we were smuggling drugs and cut them all open but they really made our wedding!"
