By the time you read this I will be back from the US of A and probably jet-lagged to the hills! I’ll be blogging all about my American Adventures really soon, but in the meantime I’ve got this beautiful Scottish wedding from CandySnaps Photography to share with you.
Fiona & Darren were married at Boturich Castle , Alexandria. They were married outside (which in legal in Scotland) and in front of the impressive castle. The bride wore a beautiful gown and veil handmade for her by a friend and vintage jewellery which had belonged to her Grandparents. The groom wore traditional Scottish kilt, the tartan of which was an Irish pattern (Murphy) which was his Grandmother’s family name.
“Our wedding was a relaxed, homespun wedding with as many of our friends involved as possible,” the bride told me. “Another friend played me up the aisle in the keyboard – Rolling Stones – She’s Like a Rainbow the instrumental part. Many of my friends helped make all of the decorations – pom poms, moustaches, lips and glasses and jam favours.”
“I was so glad that it was able to be outside as that was what I wanted the most. I wanted a wedding where everyone would be laughing and smiling all day with a lot of fun. We did so much of it ourselves I wanted the personal touches to be really apparent.”

Just wow. Like seriously, wow.
That's pretty much all I said for 5 minutes when Pheigi & Kiichiro's Japanese/Scottish fusion wedding hit my inbox this week. I almost don't know where to begin telling their epic wedding story, luckily for me the bride explained it a lot better than I ever could. The couple actually had two weddings - the first in Japan in July 2009 and the second (pictured) in Scotland in September 2010.
"My new Hubby and I actually got married in Japan (where we live) in 2009. We went to the city office and signed lots of forms to update my alien registration card, change his official address and get hitched. Which one of those forms was actually my marriage certificate I still don't know. I wore my mothers 1970's full length purple embroidered waistcoat over my purple cord flares and after we went to the crazy Japanese arcade on our street and had photos taken in the hello kitty photo booth. Much fun yet somewhat lacking in romance. We thus decided to come home to Scotland and have another celebration with my family, which we did in September. Planning my wedding from Japan was hard to say the least, especially as I wanted something a little different from the norm, and the whole thing became more of a disappointment as I spent hours trawling through ugly dresses, bland invites and over the top bling, until a good friend with similar problems directed me to your site. From then on I visited your site nearly every other day to remind myself that there were options other than white wedding package A, B or C and so in turn I am sending you my wedding in hope that it may help other brides in the UK realise the same and give them a wee break from the monotony of the wedding industry. I hope you like."

Weeklong Scottish Wedding: Bex & Santi

With family flying in from England, Thailand and the USA for their Scottish wedding, Bex & Santi really wanted to make their wedding something special. So they started with having a weeklong event, hosted at Crear, a farm house near Tarbert in Argyll. "We actually got married on 20th January but with our families travelling from all over we rented the house for a whole week (18th-24th) and everyone stayed there with us", Bex began. "We wanted to spend as little as possible, which ended up being about £10,000 but that did include the rental of Crear for 19 people for a whole week! I think my amazing mother needs a special mention here as she was 'head of catering' for the entire week at Crear and did all the menu planning and shopping for up to 30 people every day!"

They chose Venachar Lochside as the location for their stunning October wedding and Mazz and Alex made all their decisions for the day based on what did or did not spark joy. The bride wore a full purple/ dusky rose ensemble - from her Rosie Red Corsetry dress, painted shoes (which she did herself!) and even her freshly dyed hair. The flowers were a mix of purple and red, to compliment Alex' tartan, and they had pumpkins all over the place to reflect the season.

Who says only the bride can wear white? I think this all-white bridal party proves that isn't the case! Don't they all look FANTASTIC!?
The bridesmaids in the same colour as the bride wasn't the only unique thing about Harriet and Jesse's wedding though. They styled the day in a way that truly reflected them which meant pineapples, flamingos and fireworks! They day was also held at a friend's house on the Scottish borders.
