Hey Hey…I am back, did you miss meeeee?! We had a fabulous (and very fancy) time in Brighton this weekend, our hotel was ridiculously posh and we got it all for free (including two 3 course dinners which totaled more than we would spend on food shopping in a month!) I am surprised they even let us in with my pink mop and Gareth’s j-rock do…
Thought I’d come back with a bang and share this fantastic wedding I have been dying to get out there as soon as I found a few of the images on flickr…I was forced to wait however as the photographer, Phaedra had not yet finished editing them all. I’m glad I did though because now they are even better than when I first saw them. This rockabilly style just makes me swoon…and it’s all PINK!
What is also brilliant about this wedding is that almost everything was handmade by local (Californian) artists, Phaedra was kind enough to share some of these with me…
A few details about the wedding- the theme was 1940’s Rockabilly, and just about everything was handmade custom by local artists. The ladies’ attire was made by Debbie Carper (209-656-9334) from Denair, California. The tuxes and men’s shoes were by MX Tux in Merced (209-722-3388). The cakes were custom designed and made by Christy Lobao of Hilmar, California. (209-233-1991). The flowers were made by the Pitman High Agricultural Department (209-602-1146). I made playbill style wedding programs for them.. and my team photographed the wedding ( www.phaedraphotography.com ) The hair and make-up was done by Amber Tucker (209-324-3239) I’ve seen Amber’s work a few times now and I’m switching hairdressers! The woman can pull off anything!

Unusually I was actually submitted this wedding by the groom and via twitter because his gorgeous bride, Holly, was nervous about doing so. Er, girl, are you KIDDING me?! I'm dying over your wedding. The comic book, superhero and geek chic radness is just too good. This is one of those weddings that I genuinely wish I'd been invited to!

Kat
August 17, 2012
With a budget of just £8500, Kelly & Matt pulled of a wedding that perfectly encapsulated everything about them. From the cute red colour scheme, the DIY details and the relaxed photography, their wedding was one to remember. "We did absolutely everything ourselves for as little money as possible!," began the bride. "We wanted the day to represent us as a couple and to be really personal. We wanted to make it a really relaxed atmosphere and make sure all our guests and we had fun. The theme was slightly retro, with red as the main colour set around black and white polka dots and loads of red love hearts! Everything looked exactly as we had imagined and seeing it all for the first time was one of my favourite parts of the day. All the details looked amazing and we were glad we put so much time and effort into them."

Carrie and Neil had a red and white wedding with rockabilly and polka dot touches! The day was held at Highbury Hall in Birmingham and was full of DIY décor. "We would like to think we were far more relaxed, friendly and laid-back than other wedding we have been to", began the bride. "So many weddings we have been to seem so stiff and uptight as a whole. We wanted a fun party atmosphere with a live band playing lots rockabilly, plenty of food for people to stuff their faces, and encouraged dancing until your feet dropped off. The word 'formal' never entered our vocabulary."

A Black Wedding Dress, A Traditional Church Wedding & A Burlesque Themed Reception: Scarlet & Craig
Kat
November 21, 2011
Scarlet & Craig's wedding wowed me as soon as I spied that dress. I was so excited to be able to share this incredible Goth extravaganza and luckily for you lot, so were the newlyweds. In fact Craig's reply when I emailed him back saying 'Yes yes, hell yes (ps your wife is hot)' was something along the lines of 'OMG so excited that you're going to feature us!!! Squeeee'.
"I'd never really thought about my wedding day growing up, so when Craig proposed on a trip to Amsterdam (with a tattoo that simply said 'Marry Me' on his wrists!) I was thrown into a bit of a panic!" Scarlet explained. "But as soon as we started planning we knew we wanted to do things our own way. Luckily we found Rock n Roll Bride, which made us realise there really are no 'rules' for a wedding, and then we just went all out! We didn't start out with one, but as we went along we developed a kind of pink and black gothic fairytale theme, pink being my favourite colour, and black being Craig's!

August 3, 2012
Suzie & Andrew wanted a really unique venue for their unique wedding and so chose a Willesborough Windmill in Ashford, Kent. They had just 47 guests (including 13 bridesmaids!) and they really did things their own way. From the DIY catering, to the ice cream van dessert, and the chocolate favours to the lady bug bouncy castle, the day was planned around the things they love. "My main goal for our wedding was that I wanted a day that wasn't strictly structured," began newlywed Suzie. "I wanted a laid back afternoon and evening filled with fun, laughter, eating, drinking and general enjoyment for everyone. All my close family & friends wanted to help which was great and they are contributed so much to our day."

When the bride's parents live in a pink house, it would be pretty much criminal not to host the wedding there. So, when Laura and Coby married in December last year, they chose the backyard as the location for their ceremony and drinks reception and decked it out with pink, red and sparkly details including iridescent streamer backdrops, disco balls and pink crates with flowers in them!
