I have a lot of love for cute, intimate and quirky wedding stories right now and Kristen & Alex’s super stylish affair is no different. The pair had ceremony, just the two of them, at San Francisco City Hall followed by a small reception at Orson Restaurant , where they decided to have another small dedication ceremony in front of their gathered friends and family. “My favorite moments were the separation of the ceremonies” Kristen told me. “We had stressed for months on how to please both ourselves and our families (we wanted to elope, they didn’t want us to) The idea of 2 ceremonies was the perfect solution. My favorite tradition was the fact that we were so non-traditional. It took me a while while planning to realize that we had the freedom to do things the way we wanted, there was no rule that we had to do things in a certain way.”
The bride wore an ivory bridesmaids dress by Coren Moore with shoes by an Australian brand called Wittner that she had picked up on a trip to Sydney. Her veil, bolero and earrings all came from various Etsy sellers and her gorgeous bracelet was Marc Jacobs . She pulled everything together with a vintage style clutch and a bright pop of colour with her red rose bouquet.
Thanks to Kristen & Alex and their photographer Joel for sharing this gorgeous wedding with us today

Madeline Barr

I don't know about you, but for me one of the greatest things about stalking people on the internet is when they get married and I can all fall in love with them a little bit more! I've been virtually following Kaylah, aka The Dainty Squid, online for years (we share an obvious mutual affinity with colourful hair!) so when I saw her June wedding to long-term partner Jeff I was thrilled. I poured over their beautiful images for what felt like hours, soaking up every last beautiful drop. So, when their photographer Madeline Barr submitted them for us to publish I obviously had to say yes, and did so in about 5 seconds flat.

Samantha and Jason didn't want a colour scheme, they didn't want a big fuss and they certainly didn't want their wedding to overtake their lives. So instead of taking the traditional route, they decided to rent an AirBnB in Joshua Tree and have a low key yet perfectly 'them' wedding in the desert. Both lovers of this environment, they've spent many vacations exploring places such as Joshua Tree, Mojave, Red Rock and Death Valley. Surrounded by their nearest and dearest they said their "I do's" under a homemade arch, with the ceremony officiated by the bride's sister.

The Real “Non Wedding”, An Elopement at Home: Alicia & Phill

A lot of you will no doubt remember Whit and Colby's 'Non Wedding' shoot by the incredible Brooke Davis. It was one of my most popular wedding features of all time, and weirdly, sparked quite a bit of debate. But to those that said it was an irrelevant shoot with no real meaning to actual brides and grooms - today I present to you Alicia and Phill. After seeing those images not only booked Brooke to shoot their elopement, but went for their very own 'Non Wedding' theme - a secret ceremony and a party in their own back garden. Inspiration is everywhere.

An intimate park ceremony, a trip to a cupcakery and a wedding that's an unpretentious as they get. With just $4000, Tyler & Revonna were wed at Council Crest Park in Portland, OR with just their two best friends in attendance. Their low key 'reception' was at Jake’s Grill, a local restaurant which they both love. The bride even made her own wedding dress, headpiece and the dress that her bridesmaid wore.

Button Moon, Moomins, Rainbow Petticoats and a Wedding in a Cave: Caroline & Johnny

When wedding photographer Sassy of Assassynation told me she'd booked a wedding through a feature on my site last year I was super thrilled. However my excitement was pretty much quadrupled when she them told me the bride was wearing a short dress... with a rainbow petticoat... with glittery turquoise leopard print wedges and ankle socks... oh yes and that they were getting married in a cave. I think died and went to wedding heaven right about then.
Caroline & Johnny were married on a Monday, on the 14th May this year. The ceremony was small - just the two of them, the celebrant and Sassy and her husband Ian, who not only photographed the event but acted as witnesses. The ceremony was at Carnglaze Caverns in Cornwall. "One fabulously weather proof venue!" the bride laughed. "Subterranean lake, 500 candles and really dangerous steps for the clumsiest bride. What could possibly go wrong?"
