Imagine the Addams Family having a bash with Tim Burton while your favourite early emo tunes play. Well, that’s exactly what Chase and Meegan wedding was like! They drew inspiration from their shared love of early 2000s punk, emo, and pop-punk music, in particular Blink-182’s I Miss You music video.
“We truly just embraced the themes, music, and style we love,” Meegan shared. “We wanted the day to reflect a large part of what brought us together—a shared love of early 2000s punk-emo-pop punk music.”
Walking down the aisle to Your Guardian Angel by The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus set the tone for the ceremony. Chase and Meegan opted for a short yet humorous exchange of vows, keeping things light and reflective of their class clown personalities. “We kept the ceremony short, comical, and lighthearted,” Meegan explained. “It really felt like us.”
The party was their favourite part of the day. The couple managed to book a DJ from a nightclub they had both frequented in their younger days, who played crowd-favourite pop punk songs all night. “Hearing those tracks again and seeing everyone enjoying them brought back so many memories”, Meegan said.
Their reception wasn’t just about the music, though. Food played a starring role, too—perhaps more than they expected. “We probably over-catered,” Meegan admitted with a laugh, “but everyone went home with a full pizza!”
Like any wedding, there were lessons learned along the way. Balancing their personal tastes with the comfort and enjoyment of their guests was a challenge and reflecting on the timing of their day, the bride he noted one small change they’d make in hindsight: “We’d probably move the wedding to a Saturday night instead of Sunday. A lot of people left early because they had to go to work the next morning.”
Still, they were thrilled with how the day came together. “Seeing it all flow through the venue so beautifully was amazing,” Meegan concluded. “It can be an overwhelming experience, but we were lucky to have such lovely down to earth vendors who made the process easier on us.”
