Hannah and Paul might just have some of the most creative and adorable details in their wedding that we’ve ever seen! The hanging floral disco ball display? Gorgeous! The wedding party in all-the-colours-of-the-rainbow outfits carrying glass ‘bags’ of flowers instead of bouquets? Genius!
This couple didn’t want their wedding to be like any they had been to before. “I’ve been to a lot of weddings, and I didn’t want to feel like I’d just shown up to someone else’s party,” Hannah said. “Paul gave me creative freedom, and we really just wanted it to feel like us. Something authentic, but fun. And I think everyone involved hit it out of the park!”
The ceremony was set against a backdrop of mountain views, timed perfectly with a gorgeous sunlit afternoon. Paul and the groomsmen entered to an instrumental version of Here Comes the Sun, and Hannah arrived to Golden Hour by JVKE. Her pearl-covered veil caught the light just perfectly as she did. “I really wanted to capture this golden vibe,” she said, “not just the look, but the feeling of it.”
For the vows, they wrote their own—a choice that left not a dry eye in the audience. “We both cooked with those vows,” Hannah smiles. “I was glad I wasn’t the only one crying! I knew they were going to be emotional, but I didn’t expect to hear so many sniffles around us. It was just this really raw, beautiful moment that I’ll never forget.”
The bride also had the idea of wanting a very cinematic moment when they had their first kiss. With the help of their DJ and officiant, they had that moment to Super Bass by Nicki Minaj. “As our officiant said, ‘You may now kiss,’ the music hit ‘boy, you got my heartbeat runnin’ away,’ and we walked out with everyone clapping, dancing, and singing along. It was electric!”
Then came a party to remember. It kicked off with an entrance from the wedding party to AC/DC’s Thunderstruck—complete with the famous drinking game that goes with the song. The first dance was to Stickwitu by The Pussycat Dolls. But it was their idea to have a tattoo artist there giving people real tattoos that was the biggest hit.
“I always knew I wanted a tattoo artist at my wedding, but wasn’t sure how to make it happen,” Hannah explained. “Then I found out an old friend had become a tattoo artist, and it just clicked. Ian had these incredible flash sheets, and 20-30 people ended up getting tattoos! It was way more popular than we expected. Paul even got his first tattoo that night, a matching design with me! We got skeletons dancing under disco balls. It’s a funny tattoo, but it doesn’t need to ‘mean’ anything. Every time I look at it, it reminds me of that night, and that’s all that matters.”
As the night continued, the music flowed through every corner of the venue, making it feel more like a house party than a formal wedding reception. “We didn’t want it to be a typical sit-down reception,” she said. “The venue had all these little lounge pockets where people could hang out, grab a drink, and just vibe. Our DJ was incredible.”
Looking back, both Hannah and Paul reflect on how their wedding captured everything they hoped for and more. “For me,” Hannah said, “it was about seeing it all come together in a way that wasn’t cookie-cutter—also, getting a tattoo was a real highlight.”
Paul agrees: “My favourite part was being surrounded by friends and family in a beautiful setting and seeing our personalities throughout.”
“Stay present throughout it all,” Hannah advises. “It’ll get stressful, and it’ll seem like the day will never get here. But trust me, when it does, it’ll feel like you blinked and it’s over. Don’t sweat the small stuff, because it’s not if things go wrong, it’s when. Learn to control the controllable, and everything else will fall into place.”
