Floral Themed Wedding at a Bowling Alley

The inspiration for Vanessa and Sean’s wedding was their love of florals, and a desire to break away from tradition. Vanessa, knowing early on that a conventional wedding dress wasn’t for her, stumbled upon the most incredible floral fabric which then led her to finding Rosie Red Corsetry & Couture, who she worked with to create her one-of-a-kind dream dress!

With Vanessa being located in Kansas, and Rosie in the UK, they worked remotely on the design and fitting process, but it turned out perfectly! Flowers hold special significance for Vanessa, whose late mother was a floral designer, so this influenced the theme of the day a lot, too.

“I still can’t believe I’m the one who got to wear my dress”, Vanessa told us. “My mum passed away about 20 years ago and we were very close and shared a love of butterflies. Rosie incorporated the most beautiful little embroidered butterflies throughout the dress in different colours as a nod to my mother and it was so much fun trying to find them all (I’m honestly not convinced I have found them all to this day!)”

“The level of detail on my dress was unbelievable. Rosie even appliqued some flowers and a butterfly onto the petticoat in an area that isn’t visible when the dress is on. Only a couple of people will ever see those and it was the little details like that that just went above and beyond. Rosie is just the most delightful person ever to work with and the whole process was a dream from start to finish!” The dress also featured pockets and was a two-piece, meaning Vanessa could (and has) re-worn the corset to other events since!

Their ceremony, officiated by Vanessa’s childhood best friend’s mother, was an emotional highlight. “Asking her to lead the ceremony was actually the first wedding related decision we made”, Vanessa explained. “We asked her he night we got engaged, long before we even started to plan any of the details! The only criteria we gave her was that the with the ceremony itself be short and she nailed it on all fronts – it was sweet and funny and many of us were in (happy) tears!”

As neither Vanessa or Sean like to dance, they opted for a venue which gave them a different option for the evening’s entertainment – bowling! This decision turned out to be a huge hit, with guests enjoying games with their late-night snacks.

“Our favourite thing about our wedding was being able to have all of our people in one place at the same time”, the bride concluded. “Our friends and family are located throughout the country and just getting everyone to meet was a great experience.”
