Liddy and Fiz didn’t set out with a strict theme for their wedding; instead, they let their vision come together organically. What they ended up with was a perfect blend of the things they love with nods to their different cultures and traditions.
“We really just let it come together naturally,” Liddy explained. “We wanted our wedding to be a reflection of who we are. I did a lot of looking on Pinterest and took different things from different styles and vibes. We wanted it to be a big party.”
What they ended up with was a beautiful fusion of Fiz’s Bangladeshi heritage with their modern, boho celebration. Held at a brewery, their love of beer played a significant role too! They served traditional Bangladeshi food and incorporated cultural dances performed by Fiz’s sister, cousin, best friend, and his wife.
Fiz walked down the aisle to Telegraph Road by Dire Straits, the bridal party danced to Hey Good Lookin’ by Jimmy Buffett, and Liddy made her entrance to Break Every Rule by Craig Strickland. Their exit song was Hooray for Beer by Bowling for Soup. “One of the most memorable moments was when I said ‘I love you’ to Fiz in Bengali during our vows”, the bride explained. “The audible gasp from the guests was priceless”. Fiz also vowed to get Liddy a Dalmatian puppy, something she’s wanted for a really long time!
The couple’s entered the reception to the part of It’s 5 O’Clock Somewhere by Alan Jackson where he asks, ‘What would Jimmy Buffet do?’ and shot-gunned a beer with their bridal party. And while Liddy initially planned to DIY the centrepieces, it quickly became overwhelming so they handed things off to their florist. They didn’t have lots of decorations as the brewery venue already had some great elements. They also saved money by reusing the arch from the ceremony as a backdrop for their sweetheart table.
“I got to marry my best friend in one of our favourite places in the world,” Liddy concluded. “On the day a few little things went wrong so we should have spent the extra money to get a day-of coordinator, it would have done a lot smoother if we would have had one. However, none of those stresses really mattered on the day.”
