If a classic white wedding with hundreds of guests is not your idea of a good time, then you’ve probably already considered eloping. The best thing about it is you can literally do things your way – it’s not just a phrase when you have zero guests to consider or please!
If Italy is on your elopement wish list, then read on because Elena Le Fosse, the owner of Princess Apulia, an agency that organises weddings and elopements in Italy, is here to share all the things you need to consider. She has also recently launched her new brand, Proposal in Italy, which organises proposals throughout the country too!
Princess Apulia was born from my love for Puglia and the desire to give couples a unique and unforgettable experience on their wedding day. We organise personalised weddings and elopements in every detail, taking care of every aspect with passion and professionalism. Our mission is to fulfil every couple’s dream, creating an event that fully reflects their tastes and desires.
What are the advantages of eloping in Italy?
Italy is a wonderful country that offers breathtaking scenery and dream locations for an elopement. An intimate wedding allows for a more authentic and personal experience, away from the stress and expectations of others. Moreover, it saves on costs compared to a traditional wedding.
Choosing your location
It might seem like a daunting task, but with the right support, it can be very simple to elope in Italy! After setting your budget and date, start looking for your location. Popular places to elope in Italy are:
Tuscany: Famous for its rolling hills, vineyards, and charming villages.
Amalfi Coast: Known for stunning seaside views and picturesque towns.
Lake Como: Offers breathtaking lake views and elegant villas.
Venice: Ideal for romantic gondola rides and historic architecture.
Sicily: For a mix of history, beaches and unique culture.
As well as Google, look through location hashtags on Instagram (#tustanyelopement #tuscanywedding etc) and check out real wedding stories on wedding blogs to find places and then contact the ones that catch your eye.
Once you have your location sorted, research local suppliers (photographer, videographer, florist, catering etc).
The legal bit
There may also be some bureaucratic procedures to sort out to ensure the marriage is legal. These will be different depending where you are from, but if you are based in the UK then you can find out everything you need to know at gov.uk.
Hire an elopement planner
I may be biased, but especially when planning a destination wedding or elopement, a local wedding planner will be an invaluable resource to make the process as easy as possible. I have worked with couples from all over the world and I’d love to hear from you too. You can drop me an email on info@princessapulia.com if you’d like to chat!
