I love a quirky London wedding just as much as the next person so I whooped with joy when Connie & Jonny’s was send my way. “We wanted to bring all our friends and family together for a massive party to celebrate us getting hitched” the bride began. “We kept certain traditions – getting everyone to sit down and have a big feed, and speeches etc, but we weren’t keen on all the flowery formal bits, so to keep things lighthearted and personal we had the lovely ukelele band. We put our friends and family on a routemaster bus back to the reception (at Lena Restaurant ) Amazing food, great party space downstairs with loads of champagne. A friend drove my dad and I to the town hall in his VW camper van, and took Jonny and I (with music booming, a healthy supply of champagne) back to the reception (we drove back via regent’s park and stopped off in the sunshine to take it all in). Not really up for flowery delicate invites, we got Hanway print centre to print us some bright orange postcards. Jonny’s dad made the wedding cake and my mom and friends organised the flowers.”
“Having trawled a bunch of snazzy shops for wedding dresses (and baulked at the prices!), I popped into Losners, a local bridal shop just up the road from me in Stamford Hill N16 for their sample sale. They had loads of glittery stuff in the window which wasn’t my cup of tea, so I didn’t hold high hopes, but I spotted my wedding dress in their sale, bought it there and then, and carried it home in the snow! I think the dress was a Spanish designer, but I can’t remember the name I’m afraid. It was much more of a ‘wedding dress’ than I’d imagined getting, but it was such fun to wear!”
Thanks to Connie & Jonny and photographer Tracey for sharing the fab day with us today

I don't see enough brides with dreadlocks. Where are you hiding my dreadlock wielding readers?! My sister and her boyfriend have them (his are down past his waist!) and I find them very intriguing and totally beautiful...
So you can imagine my exuberance when Gavin & Hollie's wedding landed on my lap. "My good friends Gav and Hol got married in April", wrote wedding photographer Anna Clarke. "They are a beautiful and too-cool-for-school couple who had a yellow and green wedding. They did everything themselves including all the printed stuff, going to the flower market to get the flowers, decorating the village hall etc etc. I just love all the colours and Hollie's dreads piled into a big beehive. Her shoes are amaze-balls too..."

Regula & Bruno’s Creative, Spooky & Wonderful Wedding (Part One)

July 4, 2011
"Regula & Bruno rock my world"...that's how photographer Assassynation introduced me to this bad ass couple when she sent me their wedding. The pair are from Belgium but wanted to be married in England. Their ceremony day was followed by a tea party reception and spooky photo shoot in an abandoned fairground (!) in their home country a few weeks later. Luckily for us all, this second part took place just last weekend and believe me, I'm going to be featuring it just as soon as the photos are ready!
But for now, it's all about the ceremony...

Toast of Leeds
May 15, 2013
There was no doubt in my mind that I had to share this wedding with you. My heart skipped a beat as I clapped eyes on the beautiful Sarah and her stunning movie starlet-esque red wedding dress from The Couture Company and I flicked through Toast of Leeds' photographs holding my breath. What an utterly beeeeeeeautiful wedding.
"Our venue was Buckland Hall in the Brecon Beacons National Park, a country house in the Welsh mountains, that we could personalise and make our own for a long weekend", Sarah began. "We had free reign of the house and grounds, which we decorated with family photos and personal belongings that we've collected during our time together. Sixty of our guests stayed on the night of our wedding and close family the night before. The ceremony was held in a room with views of rolling park land, the River Usk and snow capped mountains beyond."

We Heart Pictures
August 5, 2013
When Kirsty and Steve planned to marry they knew they wanted tradition to play no part in it. This started with their surname. Instead of keeping their own names or one of them taking the other's they decided to merge their two names to create a brand new one. So Kirsty Foster and Steve Pate became Mr & Mrs Fate!
When it came to capturing their wedding day they wanted photos that were bright, romantic, playful, with a little kooky edge. They found We Heart Pictures through Rock n Roll Bride and couldn't have been happier with their choice! They wedding took place on June 7th at Hoxton Hall, London.

A Quirky Railway Museum Wedding: Emily & Rob
Kat
October 18, 2012
Having visited East Anglian Railway Museum since she was a little girl (and in more recent times, every September for their beer festival), Emily always knew it was the place she wanted to get married. In her own words, they chose the Town Hall for the reception, and the pub for the lunch "out of necessity", but luckily for them the sun shone for the whole day and in the end all venues were equally stunning. "People loved that we had three venues throughout the day", she explained. "We even had the miniature railway running for the children at the railway museum."

A Rainbow Wedding inspired by their Living Room: Ruth & Alex

September 5, 2012
I think green is a totally underrated bridal colour. We see brides in white, red, even black, quite often, but rarely in green - and doesn't Ruth show us how wrong this is? She looks incredible! "I remember looking at photos of my Gran in her wedding dress from 1960 which was blue with a pink petticoat and telling myself that I was going to wear my favourite colour when I got married too", Ruth began, "and so the green dress was born. My something old was my Gran's actual pink underskirt from her wedding dress."
"Finding a green dress was hard work though. At first I tried on bridesmaid dresses but I never really felt myself or special enough. I was also being pushed into trying on white dresses by everyone but I didn't recognise myself. I'm a total tomboy at heart and the concept of being feminine for the day felt alien to me. I still don’t understand the concept of feeling like a princess on your wedding day. The most important thing was to feel like me. I found Vivien of Holloway online after looking at the adverts on Rock n Roll Bride. After three trips trying on various Vivien of Holloway dresses, I ended up ordering from a limited run of only 4 (!) plain green circle dresses. I love the fact that I can and will be able to wear my dress again and that I'm only one of 4 people to have bought it!"

I love Lucy & Adam's wedding SO MUCH. Not only did it take place in my home town of Reading (yey!) but they hired a big top to host their reception! But this wasn't any old circus wedding, oh no these guys went all out. An airstream stage, a granny's living room and musical performers a-plenty!

A Colourful Country Garden Fete Wedding: Tom & Jenny

September 27, 2012
The DIY wedding of Tom & Jenny took place in Kent in July. After a church ceremony, their low key reception was held in Tom's parent's back garden.
The bride wore a short wedding dress from Yours Truly Bridal Shop in Maidstone which cost her just £180 with a gorgeous headpiece was by a Rock n Roll Bride favourite, Crown & Glory. Alongside her lucky bridesmaids, she wore Vivienne Westwood/Melissa Lady Dragon shoes and instead of bouquets they all carried a single giant faux flower stem, bought from Hobbycraft costing just £2 each!
