My last wedding from Bob Miller (for now! – if you missed them here’s one and two ) is the gorgeous relaxed but energetic wedding of Beverly & Neil.
Sloss Furnaces in Birmingham AL (apparently one of the most haunted places in the US!) was suggested to the pair by their friend and eventual wedding coordinator, Sarah Crawford. After visiting Sloss, they both agreed this location would provide the unique, relaxed, and energetic atmosphere they wanted. Working within a very limited budget, they felt that choosing an unconventional location would allow them to bypass some of the traditional wedding etiquette. “The location also said a lot about our interests” the groom told me. ” I’m an Architect (student) and Beverly is a Graphic Designer. The soaring smokestacks and steel columns and beams (all decades old) provided an amazing setting. In addition, much of Sloss consists of beautiful greenery sprouting out of the old steel in various spots.”
Beverly wore a gorgeous dress, bought at Mimi’s Bridal in Laurel MS.
Thanks to photographer Bob and Beverly & Neil for sharing their day with us

Newlywed's Bianca & Sean got married in Cape Town (where they have now lived for 10 years) at a gorgeous restaurant called Pure at Hout Bay Manor. The wedding was based on a vintage/retrospective theme. The Bridesmaids all chose their own sleek black dresses and the boys wore skinny ties and sharp black suits. Bianca looked every bit the vintage princess in a custom made silver satin and lace wedding gown made by local couturier Cindy Bam and a vintage 1920s hat and veil.

Krista & Uryah had a 1920s style wedding in Snohomish, WA. As a professional seamstress, Krista planned and DIY'd the majority of wedding herself. I have a whole lot of love for this set - her shoes, her back lace umbrella, the cigarette holders - classy and wonderful!
Thanks to Claire for sending me these. Mwah!

I often daydream about what our wedding would be like if we were to do it now (embarrassing admission alert!) and I think I've hit the daydream wedding jackpot with Bianca & Paul. The industrial vibe of their Shoreditch venue is just perfect perfect perrrfect. The space in question is Village Underground, an "evolving project building an international platform for creativity and culture" as the website describes it. SWOON.

Salvador Dali Inspired Surrealist Wedding: Demi & Steven

Between them, Demi and Steven have degrees is art history, psychology and education so they wanted their wedding to reflect these passions. Initially they thought about having a pop art inspired day as the bride loves Andy Warhol but they then decided they actually wanted something slightly vintage and with an old Hollywood feel. "It seemed only natural that we have a surrealist inspired wedding as we are fascinated by the subconscious and bizarre", wrote Demi. "Surrealism is about desire, frenzy, and unconscious drives. This seemed very appropriate to our relationship. I also like the irony of the intense misogyny of surrealism mingled with the fact that a woman planned everything."

1950s Old School Glamour Wedding: David & Kelly

Let's Frolic Together
July 30, 2013
David and Kelly's wedding was held at The Riviera Palm Springs Resort. The day have a classic 1950s retro vibe with monochrome details and elegant and timeless glamour throughout.
"The inspiration for our wedding was classic, retro glamour", explained Kelly. "I love everything that embodies the 1950s: the cars, the clothing, the glamour. Women were so put together in such a classy way. I'm a sucker for the old glamour and how people dressed to a 'T' back in those days. People dressed up when they went out. They took pride in their appearances. Short shorts and flip-flops did not cut it when going out on the town. I'm just very classic and 'old school' when it comes to these types of details. I feel that I represent this ideal everyday (even though I do own a pair of flip flops and do wear them every once in a while!)"

A Vintage Themed South African Wedding ‘With a Twist’: Zigi & Warren
Kat
September 19, 2011
Oh South Africa you do have some beautiful light...and how lucky are Zigi & Warren to have had Shanna Jones Photography to capture it so magically?
"We wanted a different wedding that represented our style," Zigi told me. "Something that was unique to us as a couple. Warren is into Cars/Bikes & Fashion. I am into Food/Art/design…and unfortunately cars too. We decided to do a Road trip to our destination (this is something we do often & is actually part of our lives). The plan was to do it over 4 days & 3 nights to ensure we really don’t miss anything, but also get the time to spend with the various groups of people. The plan was that the entire group would get to know each other by being in the same town for 3 nights. This would mean on the wedding night we can just hang!! Quite a few of our friends are muscle car collectors – so about 10 cars drove up (where others brought their off-road bikes to go into the mountains)."

Industrial & Botanical Vegan Wedding in New York

Megan and Brad wanted their wedding to be a blend of natural, industrial and vintage, with a nod to the wabi-sabi aesthetic; the Japanese art of finding beauty in imperfection. They were inspired mostly by modern industrial and moody botanical styles. They also knew they wanted to get married in New York City, where they met and have lived for some time.

Brooke and Phil's wedding theme came about when they found their venue, The Arches in Dean Clough, Halifax. The traditional cloth mill had exposed brick work, pillars and stone floor which was the perfect backdrop for an industrial inspired wedding with just a touch of glamour.
