Inspired by the likes of Downton Abbey, The Crown, Bridgerton and Vogue magazine editorials, Jay and Sammi planned their regal wedding for August last year. They were married at Prestwold Hall near Loughborough.

The bride walked down the aisle with her a dad, accompanied by string trio who also played throughout the ceremony. “This added to the royal feeling”, said Sammy. “We also wrote our own vows. It turned out to be a very emotional day full of tears.” At the end of the ceremony they jumped the broom, as a nod to Jay’s ancestor’s tradition.

The couple met while working on cruise ships as performers, so a lot of their guests were performers too. They therefore decided to have an open mic night rather than hire in a band or DJ. “It was a lot of fun, informal and very personal to all of us”, Sammi continued. “One of our guest is a Dua Lipa tribute who put on a great show for us all.”

“You will never ever please everyone (you shouldn’t have too), so do exactly what is important and meaningful to you”, they advise. “Remember its YOUR wedding. The magic you feel on that day is on a whole additional level to anything you will experience. Use the reception to look around the room and observe. Take in each table and the people that are there. It is rare that you will have so many loved ones in one room again and they are there to celebrate you and your partner. It really is the most wholesome wonderful feeling that you should hold in your heart forever.”
