Moody Celestial Wedding with Bridesmaid Dogs

Since getting engaged in October 2018, Becca and Ashley’s Pinterest board contained their dream wedding day. Having navigated a few postponement bumps along the road, it all turned out fine in the end and as Becca told us, “Everything turned our exactly like how my Pinterest board dreamed of since we got engaged!”

Ditching traditional bridesmaids for brides-dogs and shooting for a celestial theme, the couple chose a dark and moody palette, with pops of colour in the florals and the natural green outdoor backdrop to add some freshness. “I told Ashley to pick the theme”, Becca continued. “Ashley loves astrophotography and space, so I took that idea and ran with it for our décor!”

Ashley is a dog-trainer, so dogs are a big part of their lives. Who better to act as their bridal party than their best friends?! Blitzen and Noli had their very own special outfits, and they really loved being involved in the day!

Ashley’s long-time friend officiated, and Becca walked down the aisle to Wildest Dreams by Taylor Swift, played by a violinist. The couple opted for a vegetarian wedding, which they were apprehensive about, however Becca told us, “The guests raved about the food which was awesome. It was Italian food, and everyone had a pasta dish made fresh in front of them. It was spectacular!”

Becca and Ashley’s biggest expense was Becca’s Hayley Paige dress, however she told us, “It was totally worth it, my complete dream dress! (which may have got slightly singed with a sparkler spark later on!)”

They saved a little by not having (human!) bridesmaids and chose lots of materials and décor on Etsy. Becca was obsessed with every detail, wanting to plan the perfect day after such a tough couple of years of lockdowns, however significantly underestimated the time commitment, telling us, “I wish I’d known it was going to be my full time job for the six months before it happened! My advice is to start planning way in advance – it’s never too early!”
