This fun all day trash the dress shoot was sent over by UK photographer Natasha Hurley . I really love seeing the evolution of time throughout these images – from the early morning light in the garden shots, to the late afternoon sun in the graffiti shots and the evening time darkness with the contrast of the artifical lights in the final urban images. Quite apart from that, the bride Miranda looks like she’s having a ball and I love love love her heart shaped pink sunglasses.
“My thought process was for the shoot to have a slightly magical quality with a modern twist” Natasha told me “It came about after I bought a shockingly bright pink handheld mirror with baroque patterning around it….In the end the mirror only made it in one of the shots (the silhouette of Miranda looking at the mirror), but it was a great starting point I guess. The photos are a mixture of posed shots and those “in between” moments which I love to capture – in this photoshoot they are mainly of Miranda cracking up laughing as passers-by shouted “congratulations” to her!”
“The photoshoot took place in South London – Streatham Common and South Bank to be precise” she continued ” but in each location I wanted to find the unusual and different angles or lighting, especially South Bank, so I used things like the entrance to a restaurant, a stairwell etc not a backdrop of the Eye etc.”
Thanks to Natasha for sharing these fab, fun shots with us

Alternative Asian Bridal Shoot

October 6, 2012
We don't get to see a whole lot of alternative Asian wedding inspiration, so I was thrilled when I received this bridal shoot with an edge from School of Rock graduate Rabbia Ali Shah from the Asian Wedding Ideas blog.
"Seeing the same Asian bridal images can start to get a little repetitive", wrote Rabbia, "and the idea of something a little edgier is one that I had been thinking about for a while. Getting people on board wasn't the easiest of task but getting in touch with wedding photographer Priti Shikotra, changed all that. She had similar thoughts about a shoot."

This beautiful and creative photo shoot was put together by the ladies behind Dottie Creations and Dottie Photography. It was inspired by their love of the great British seaside. Mandy & Zoe, the ladies behind both companies, styled, crafted and photographed the whole shoot themselves. They made all the awesome signage, the beautiful table decorations and the even the biscuits.

Chi Chi Revolver’s Tattooed Bridal Shoot

"I was really inspired reading the winning entry to your Knot Couture dress competition recently," photographer Bethan of Haywood Jones Photography told me. "It was hard to picture how it would feel to be made so uncomfortable in a shop who were clearly disapproving of you, thinking we live in a properly modern society (!) until it happened to me last weekend (not because I have beautiful body art sadly, but much more because I was dressed a bit scruffily and went into a very posh art shop. They actually got another member of security to stand in the shop while me and my friend walked around!!) It suddenly became clear that you really can't judge a book by its cover and that even though the *mainstream* wedding industry is becoming more accepting of the *alternative* side of peoples wedding creativity and gorgeousness, there are still many blinkered people out there who wont look past stereotypes and make you feel less than worthy of their attention."

August 23, 2010
If you're a regular reader of Rock n Roll Bride I'm sure you'll already be aware of the amazing Emma Case (she shot the image that I'm currently using as my blog header/my 'Punk Rock n Roll Bride' shoot) and Lucy Ledger Designs. Lucy makes gorgeously creative vintage-inspired stationary (I've also been lucky enough to feature her before as well as meet her in actual real life!) After Lucy saw Emma's work on Rock n Roll Bride she got in touch asking if they could get together to do a promotional shoot for her vintage stationary company. Hello!? Match made in vintage Rock n Roll heaven or what!?

Day to Night

Anna & Simon actually had two days to shoot their engagements with friend and photographer Steve Gerrard. They hit two locations which gave both sets a completely different look. First up was the quaint English town of Stratford-Upon-Avon (random fact of the day - where Shakesphere was born) and the second at The Custard Factory in Birmingham. I can't help but particularly love the night time/painting with light shots though - v. cool!
Thanks to Steve for shooting these over to me.

We Heart Pictures
August 5, 2013
When Kirsty and Steve planned to marry they knew they wanted tradition to play no part in it. This started with their surname. Instead of keeping their own names or one of them taking the other's they decided to merge their two names to create a brand new one. So Kirsty Foster and Steve Pate became Mr & Mrs Fate!
When it came to capturing their wedding day they wanted photos that were bright, romantic, playful, with a little kooky edge. They found We Heart Pictures through Rock n Roll Bride and couldn't have been happier with their choice! They wedding took place on June 7th at Hoxton Hall, London.
