Jackie and Hondo wanted a moody, romantic wedding but with no rules or traditions. They referenced Rock n Roll Bride magazine for inspiration throughout their planning process and felt so inspired by looking at everyone’s creativity and non-traditional themes.
The day was held at The Art Factory , a historic loft space, in Paterson, NJ. “I always pictured an all-black wedding and we both wanted a non-traditional space”, Jackie told us. “Our inspiration stemmed from doing what WE liked, and not what was ‘expected. We would describe our theme as moody, romantic and ‘evil boho’!”
To highlight the moody vibe, the couple asked all their guests to wear black and on the tables they had black candles and faux greenery. Almost everything was DIY, the table numbers were made with thrifted stained glass and all the paper goods were homemade too.
“Our advice to other couples would be to not listen to anyone!” the bride concluded. “No two couples are exactly the same, so why would your wedding be? We got some of our greatest advice from people we didn’t know, and therefore… no opinions or added stress. Enjoy your day and hire a coordinator. There’s not many things that are cooler than seeing your planning to come to life on the day of, but who wants to boss people around on your wedding day!?”

It feels weird to start a real wedding post with a disclaimer of sorts but this is just one of those weddings that I share with a small sense of trepidation. Without wanting to sound like anybody's mother, let's just remember that this is two people's actual wedding day and their way of expressing their love. I am under no disillusion that parts of the wedding may well divide opinion, but as always, let's keep the comments constructive and remember what Rock n Roll Bride is all about...

They had a bubble machine on the ceiling, costume accessories, creepy mannequins, sparklers and black silk petals. Their seating was all thrifted to save cash.

Scarlet & Craig's wedding wowed me as soon as I spied that dress. I was so excited to be able to share this incredible Goth extravaganza and luckily for you lot, so were the newlyweds. In fact Craig's reply when I emailed him back saying 'Yes yes, hell yes (ps your wife is hot)' was something along the lines of 'OMG so excited that you're going to feature us!!! Squeeee'.
"I'd never really thought about my wedding day growing up, so when Craig proposed on a trip to Amsterdam (with a tattoo that simply said 'Marry Me' on his wrists!) I was thrown into a bit of a panic!" Scarlet explained. "But as soon as we started planning we knew we wanted to do things our own way. Luckily we found Rock n Roll Bride, which made us realise there really are no 'rules' for a wedding, and then we just went all out! We didn't start out with one, but as we went along we developed a kind of pink and black gothic fairytale theme, pink being my favourite colour, and black being Craig's!

Linda & Tyler's wedding makes me yearn for long lazy summer nights and scorching beaches. I could drink up this wedding and be satisfied for days...And with the event taking place at a venue called Paradise Gardens, is it any wonder?
"Our wedding day was a wonderful accumulation of memories that we will embrace forever," Linda told me. "We’re beyond grateful for the love we have for one another and the natural way it shone through onthat day. I feel that every aspect of the wedding screamed us - from the lotus field, to the sounds of Devendra Banhart wailing, to the venue bathed in tea land gold! Our venue was amazing and we were ecstatic to have found this exotic little gem tucked away in the hills of Oceanside."
