Kacii and Jay Jay married at Mansfield Traquair , Edinburgh. Known locally as ‘Edinburgh’s answer to the Sistine Chapel’, the exquisite, neo-Romanesque former church was an opulent setting for their March celebration. The couple made it their own, wanting a more casual, fun affair than is usually held there, so they eschewed the traditional expectations and did things the way they wanted!
Instead of a traditional, sit-down wedding breakfast, they had a buffet, with all their favourite food; mini burgers and chips with curry sauce! They took inspiration from Tim Burton and Alice in Wonderland with coloured fairy lights, a blue and purple vegan cake with three different chocolate based layers and colourful unique outfits that represented them better than the usual ivory and white.
In fact, Kacii had her dress designed especially for her, “Literally none of the wedding shop bridal dresses made me swoon; I knew then i would have to create my own,” she explained. her unique, ombre fishtail number was dreamed up by her with help from Freja Designer Dressmaking , and was her dream dress… even if it proved not very practical!
“My sister helping me pee into a jug is certainly hard to forget,” laughed Kacii, when recollecting a fun part of their day. “As incredible as my dress was, it wasn’t made for things like eating and peeing. Despite this, I wish I could wear that dress everywhere – its fun being a bride, even if it is fleeting!”
Their biggest expense was their venue, who provided everything from catering to the ceremony, planning to the reception. “It was so great not to have to stress about everything on the day,” said Kacii. “I know package weddings get a bad rep but it felt great to be able to trust the professionals with what they know best and just add our own personal touches here and there.”

This ghoulish, retro horror themed wedding may not be everybodys cup of tea but I can't help but be a little over-excited about it. So. Much. Originality! Photographer Al, who has just been shortlisted for 'Tattoo Photographer of the Year' was keen to tell me all about Ash and Michelle Ghoulmore's (oh yes!) friday the 13th wedding.
The couple run retro rebels store and the horror-themed clothing company Kreepsville 666 so their wedding was always going to be a spooky special. 'Ghoulmore' actually is Ash's surname and they pretty much live Halloween everyday, so it was fitting to pick a horror / b-movie inspired Wedding theme.
"This meant I had to light the formals in a slightly different way to ensure I got that punchy highly saturated contrasty feel that fits with the mood" photographer Al told me. "This was the first time I've seen a smoke machine used during the ceremony! The archway was decorated with skulls and light like a stage. As you can see form the photos the cake was a skull and all the attendees got to take home a set of cast-silver effect fangs to say 'fangs for coming' [groan]. Zombina and the Skeletones provided the live music for the reception, again fitting the horror-rockabilly theme."

Bethan and Robbie were married at The Weaving Shed in Dundee. Originally an old weaving mill (which is still functioning as such in the adjoining rooms) the industrial backdrop provided an aesthetically pleasing juxtaposition with their bright and colourful theme.

Tattoos, tears and a seriously cute couple. Toni & Colin's wedding is what my dreams are made of. These guys are THE perfect Rock n Roll couple and they're wedding slays me. Plus they had Sassy of Assassynation as their wedding photographer so they instantly go way up in the cool stakes with me!
The wedding was held at The Quay, Musselburgh, on 10th November. "Colin and I met online what feels like a life time ago but wasn't all that long ago in the grand scheme of things", Toni began. "We spoke for a month or so online and then he made plans to come over from Northern Ireland to visit me in Edinburgh. 'I'll come for the weekend,' he said. Well, he arrived and he's yet to leave! We've lived together from day one and, including the night before the wedding, we are yet to spend one single night apart. It's a good job he makes me laugh as much as he does!"

Regula & Bruno’s Creative, Spooky & Wonderful Wedding (Part One)

"Regula & Bruno rock my world"...that's how photographer Assassynation introduced me to this bad ass couple when she sent me their wedding. The pair are from Belgium but wanted to be married in England. Their ceremony day was followed by a tea party reception and spooky photo shoot in an abandoned fairground (!) in their home country a few weeks later. Luckily for us all, this second part took place just last weekend and believe me, I'm going to be featuring it just as soon as the photos are ready!
But for now, it's all about the ceremony...

Marrying her sweetheart in August of last year, newlywed Claire told me all about their Glaswegian wedding. "Whilst on paper our wedding wasn't overtly Rock n Roll, our journey to get down the aisle definitely offers a slightly offbeat tale. Namely because in the two years leading up to our nuptials we collectively lost ten stone between us - the equivalent of 20ish new-born babies, a Saint Bernard dog, or Britney Spears. The toughest journey of my life, losing 70% of our collective weight drop, I lived, breathed and blogged the whole shebang, and whilst I still have a few more pounds to shift, that I made it down the aisle in the most beautiful dress I've ever seen, no longer morbidly obese, is the proudest moment of my life so far."

Toast of Leeds

There was no doubt in my mind that I had to share this wedding with you. My heart skipped a beat as I clapped eyes on the beautiful Sarah and her stunning movie starlet-esque red wedding dress from The Couture Company and I flicked through Toast of Leeds' photographs holding my breath. What an utterly beeeeeeeautiful wedding.
"Our venue was Buckland Hall in the Brecon Beacons National Park, a country house in the Welsh mountains, that we could personalise and make our own for a long weekend", Sarah began. "We had free reign of the house and grounds, which we decorated with family photos and personal belongings that we've collected during our time together. Sixty of our guests stayed on the night of our wedding and close family the night before. The ceremony was held in a room with views of rolling park land, the River Usk and snow capped mountains beyond."
