Sarah and Andrew knew right from the off that they didn’t want to spend a ton of money on their wedding day – as they had both been married previously, they already knew that the most important thing at the end of the day, was just themselves. Armed with a $3000 budget they set about picking their destination, and their outfits – and the rest they let happen naturally!
They knew that what they did have for they wedding day, that they wanted to reflect their personalities and their similarities in style – they just wanted to be themselves! For Sarah this meant rocking a pair of Vans under her black tulle gown, which she DIY’d by combining a highstreet dress with a tulle overskirt for just $300. For Andrew, a houndstooth waistcoat and trousers, collar chain and again, his trusty Vans!
They picked out Forsyth Park in Savannah for their wedding the very day before their ceremony, and had the best time throughout the entire evening, celebrating simply with craft beers and the few people that joined them. “We broke rules, we laughed, we drank and had the best night of our lives!” said Sarah. “We walked all over town, popped in and out of bars and felt like we were royalty.”
Their biggest expense for their wedding was their hotel room, “That evening, we ordered continuous and bottles of champagne to finish off the perfect day; if you can’t splash out on your wedding day, then when can you?!”
“Don’t get hung up on what other people say that you should or shouldn’t do,” advises Sarah. “At the end of the day, this experience should be one that you’ll never forget – and if you spend your time focused on the wants of other people, you’ll diminish what it’s truly about. We had the perfect day, the entire experience was low-stress and focused solely on what we wanted. It was truly become the best day of our lives.”
