I have two very distinct sides to my personality: A rainbow loving, magpie emulating, glitter obsessive, ‘Disney is everything!’ side and an all-black-all-the-time, metal music listening, ‘forever looking for the perfect nude lipstick’ side. I am nothing if not a contradiction but for some reason it makes total sense to me. One day I want to roll myself in glitter, dress head to toe in rainbows and slick on some hot pink lipstick, and the next I only want to wear black and for everything to be clean and very neatly organised.
I feel like our home is a bit like this too. Our style has very much always been white walls with pops of colour in each room, but when we started to plan our next big project (the bathroom) we both agreed that we wanted to go the other way entirely and to experiment with a more masculine approach. We’re going for the darkest blue walls, black accents and lots of leafy plants.
When it comes to finding your own style (with what you wear or how to decorate your home) I am all for absorbing as much inspiration as possible, then picking and choosing the things that appeal. So what if it doesn’t make sense to other people that one room is painted royal purple and the next is entirely monochrome!? Like with everything in this life you have to do what makes YOU happy.
I have been trying to convince Gareth that matt black taps are the way to go for the bathroom too, unfortunately he’s having none of it but that hasn’t stopped me looking around for matt blank inspiration regardless. According to the people that know way more about this stuff than I do, matt black is a huge interior’s trend for 2019. Featured at the top of this post are some of my favourite recent finds, which are all available to add to a Prezola gift list. I certainly plan to incorporate some of these kind of details into the bathroom.
Prezola are one of my favourite gift list companies and one I always recommend when people ask me. Not only do they offer over 50,000 products from over 500 brands (including Made.com, Sofa.com, Dyson, Smeg, Graham and Green, Habitat and The White Company) meaning you’ll get WAY more choice than a department store gift list, they have some really unusual items available too. If the idea of new pots and pans is boring as hell to you then you don’t need to add them! There are plenty of other wonderful things you can include.
Plus, if you upgrade to a premier account (which us usually £59 but right now it’s FREE!) you can ask for cash contributions, charity donations or start a honeymoon fund using Prezola too.
