Featuring UK weddings makes me happy. Not only because I know being a British blogger makes me stand out from the crowd, but because it makes me so happy that us Brits are finally catching up to our American friends in the style stakes! Therefore to celebrate I’m going to blog not one, but two awesome UK weddings today (and a little bit of California dreamin’ at the end of the day – sorry I can’t resist it.)
I’m kicking off with a wedding that’s not only fabulously unique but the bride is in a purple dress! It was actually an Alfred Angelo bridesmaid dress but certainly did the job as a glamorous and unique bridal outfit.
Pitzhanger Manor House in Ealing while the venue was held at the Kew Bridge Steam Museum . Both venues gave the day an almost Victorian feel don’t you think?

Jojo and Andy were married in August at Nettlestead Place, Kent. While the groom wasn't too bothered about having a big wedding, the bride wanted something special and so a steampunk theme it was! She wore a corset from Baba Studio with an AMAZING purple and turquoise skirt, made for her by Sisters of the Moon on Etsy. Her biker boots were from eBay.

When a bride is a wedding dress designer you just know she's going to rock something truly incredible on her own wedding day. Getting married to John at the spectacular Westonbirt School, Gloucestershire, Vikki wore two stunning gowns, both of which she made herself. She also handmade her bridesmaid's dresses and accessories.

Some of you may remember Alix & Zach from their gothic tea party engagement shoot. Well I'm thrilled to be able to share their wedding with you today - and guess what, the smoke came with them!
After getting ready at The Rookery Hotel (somewhere which I've actually stayed - its a beautiful hotel!) the couple were married at Lauderdale House in Highgate. The reception was held at somewhere that's fast becoming one of my favourite London venues, The Metal Works in Islington.

Cas and Geoff may have picked The Eden Project in Cornwall, a very modern looking venue, for their September wedding, but there theme was old fashioned and quirky. Victorian Steampunk is a style that they both love and so it made complete sense that it be the inspiration for their amazing day.

These were the things that inspired Lauren & Matt's October wedding. Although the theme wasn't really intentional, by incorporating the things they just really liked it totally worked!
"Our ethos for our wedding was that we were going to what we wanted and not what people expected", wrote Lauren. "We picked and chose aspects of tradition that we liked and binned those we didn't. We had a humanist ceremony which isn't like a registry wedding - it's a lot more personal. We tied a Celtic knot which we practiced loads before hand! My friend did the reading of 'A Lovely Love Story' by Edward Monkton, which is about dinosaurs and dinosaurs are awesome! One of our other close friends gave us the book as an engagement present and we thought it was apt as a reading. We also had a dinosaur cake topper!"

A Modern Art Themed Wedding & a Bride with Dreadlocks: Chris & Angela

"Arty & creative" replied Chris & Angela when I asked them to describe their wedding theme. "Lots of people on the day used words like 'informal' and 'relaxed' as well which was nice as it was what we kind of wanted. We were glad they picked up on it."
The June wedding was held at Underley Grange Cottage in the Lake District. The couple homemade as much as possible, including all the reception decor. "Where do I begin with explaining the DIY?" laughed Angela. "Pretty much everything in the reception room was homemade. One of our favourite things was decorating parasols in the style of modern artists and hanging them from the ceiling. We made our own invitations - including hand making the actual paper! It turned out to be quite a saga; that and folding a hundred paper cranes for the RSVPs was quite a lot of work! On the plus side, as a milliner, the wedding was a great excuse to make lots of fun hats and fascinators for everyone."

Abbie and Daniel were married at The Paintworks in Bristol, a converted industrial building in the city's creative quarter. They didn't set out to have a theme but the bride's outfit was quite 50s, they served fish n chips and had an ice cream tricycle for desert, and they had a DJ who played only 90s music - so I guess you could say the wedding was all the things they liked!
