If there’s one thing I hope reading Rock n Roll Bride has taught you, it’s that you don’t need to spend all your savings to have a fantastic wedding. Starting off married life with a mountain of debt is no fun for anyone which I why I was thrilled to be submitted this retro bridal shoot using vintage dresses that all cost less than £40 each!
Stylist Ines of Wedding Bazaar Vienna told me, “You don’t always need a new dress to achieve a stunning look and that was the idea behind this photo shoot. All the dresses we used were second-hand and sourced on the internet for less then £40, or they were lent by friends.”
“Most of the vintage objects in the pictures were collected from flea markets and charity shops from across Europe too. I think that the result has something that the glossy wedding magazines often lack – individuality, authenticity and heart.”

Happy day of LOVE! What could be a better way to start off this most romantic of celebrations than a Valentine's inspired bridal shoot... with a twist (of course!)?
There are so many touches that I love in this set of photos - the hay bales with the hearts on, the colourful DIY fans or the heart garlands would make for incredible ceremony backdrops. There are some seriously sweet buffet table ideas and the gold and yellow tablescape is a really lovely and original take on the theme.

Retro Pin Up Valentines Lovelies

With the day of hearts, flowers and lurrrve fast approaching, I have been inundated with Valentine's themed submissions, however this retro/pin up shoot from Jen Will may well be one of my utter favourites.
The shoot took place in her own kitchen which was the perfect setting for the baking theme. "This is part of the reason I love my apartment." Jen tells us "It is the coolest apartment ever, and my love for it is part of the reason I have yet to join the adult world of home ownership. It has a bathroom that would probably rent out as a large bedroom in New York City and a classic stove that came straight from the original Be Witched TV show. No matter where I live in the future, I will always love this place. I am so glad I got to document it in such a special way!"
I have to agree... and seeing these really makes me want to get my arse in gear and decorate our house! Thanks to Jen for sharing these.

“Marilyn! Marilyn!”

Rebecca's retro taxi session is so marilyn! In fact while they were shooting people were driving past honking their horns and shouting "Marilyn! Marilyn!"
She wore a dress from a five & dime store (I don't know what this is...we don't have these in Londontown) and she made her own gorgeous hairpiece.

Not only are there real life dog models but their human counterparts are rocking all manner of puppy themed clobber and the table is covered in doggie plates, kitsch ornaments and the stationery is all puppy themed. I approve!

The shoot, put together as a collab between Berlin photographers The Richters and bridal designer Anne Wolf is giving us all the retro vibes. Shot entirely using analogue cameras, 35mm and medium format, they stayed away from anything classic or cliché, and were instead inspired by 70s fashion editorials and Berlin itself.
