Michela and Federico had a secret wedding. They got legally married in the morning, but didn’t tell anyone. They just organised a party for their 10 year anniversary and surprised everyone by telling them they got married earlier in the day!
“We knew that we wanted a different wedding that spoke about us and about our love story”, said the bride. “The best part of the day was the surprise when our guests found out we really got married! Nobody, except our families, knew that we got married that morning. As our party was only supposed to be an anniversary party some of our friends though it would be funny to prepare a fake ceremony for us. It should have been a simple joke but at the end of it the ‘officiant’ told everybody that during the morning we were truly get married! Everyone was so shocked!”
“We had two central themes: pastel colours and tattoos. The party was set up by us, we made the invitations, all the decorations and put together a temporary tattoo station. Our biggest cost was food but we saved money on all the decor and design because we did it ourselves.”
“The best part of planning the wedding was the secret!” she concluded. “Keeping the secret together was really fun, it was difficult not to let it slip to our friends though!”

Katie & Eric didn't have the wedding they'd originally planned, but when circumstances changed, so did their wedding. However being able to have the people there that meant a the most to them was more important than waiting for a big wedding. "When we got engaged last summer, we started to plan a big wedding for October 2013 that we could invite all of our friends and family to", began Katie. "A few months after we became engaged we found out that my Dad had liver cancer, and everything changed. The most important thing was to have our family members at the wedding, and have them all attend in comfort. With that in mind, we changed almost every aspect of the wedding and planned it in four months."

Ames and Tel met when they were twelve, at school. Needless to say it wasn't love at first sight! However eleven years later they virtually bumped into each other on MySpace and saw each other on a few nights out. Shortly after that they started dating.

"We didn't have much money to spend (our budget was £3000) so we wanted to do as much ourselves as we could. I think in the end we had a laid back, homemade vintage feel to the day."

Bianca and Richard's wedding was held on Big Bay Beach in Cape Town. This was very definitely a family affair with the bride's mother making the stationery and helping Bianca fold all those paper origami flowers, and both her parents helping with the catering. Most of the reception décor was borrowed from people they knew or bought cheaply in China Town.
