I don’t get to feature enough gothic style weddings so when Carmel & Drynn’s rustic yet opulent gothic affair landed on my desk I jumped at the chance to share these.
The Bride told me…
I found my dress at Gothic Wedding Dresses and our flowers were done by Punch Portland . The inspiration for our theme was based on Tim Burton-esque Sleepy Hollow, classic Victorian but with a dark feel. We are kind of “darker” individuals so we wanted that reflected but wanted to do it in a classy tasteful way. We didn’t want to scare our guests too much! We picked Drynn’s hat up at a vintage store the feather piece & my headpieces were done by Cricket Quills .
Thanks to Carmel & Drynn for sharing their day with us

Krista & Uryah had a 1920s style wedding in Snohomish, WA. As a professional seamstress, Krista planned and DIY'd the majority of wedding herself. I have a whole lot of love for this set - her shoes, her back lace umbrella, the cigarette holders - classy and wonderful!
Thanks to Claire for sending me these. Mwah!

It feels weird to start a real wedding post with a disclaimer of sorts but this is just one of those weddings that I share with a small sense of trepidation. Without wanting to sound like anybody's mother, let's just remember that this is two people's actual wedding day and their way of expressing their love. I am under no disillusion that parts of the wedding may well divide opinion, but as always, let's keep the comments constructive and remember what Rock n Roll Bride is all about...

Katie and Christopher dropped just $1000 on their amazing wedding. They hosted it in their own home, the bride bought her dress online and the reception décor was put together by the couple themselves. They had a bubble machine on the ceiling, costume accessories, creepy mannequins, sparklers and black silk petals. Their seating was all thrifted to save cash.

A Black Wedding Dress, A Traditional Church Wedding & A Burlesque Themed Reception: Scarlet & Craig

Scarlet & Craig's wedding wowed me as soon as I spied that dress. I was so excited to be able to share this incredible Goth extravaganza and luckily for you lot, so were the newlyweds. In fact Craig's reply when I emailed him back saying 'Yes yes, hell yes (ps your wife is hot)' was something along the lines of 'OMG so excited that you're going to feature us!!! Squeeee'.
"I'd never really thought about my wedding day growing up, so when Craig proposed on a trip to Amsterdam (with a tattoo that simply said 'Marry Me' on his wrists!) I was thrown into a bit of a panic!" Scarlet explained. "But as soon as we started planning we knew we wanted to do things our own way. Luckily we found Rock n Roll Bride, which made us realise there really are no 'rules' for a wedding, and then we just went all out! We didn't start out with one, but as we went along we developed a kind of pink and black gothic fairytale theme, pink being my favourite colour, and black being Craig's!

Rock Music, Halloween & New Orleans: Tyson & Allie

June 17, 2013
Tyson and Allie's Florida wedding had a music themed wedding with touches of Halloween, New Orleans and vintage. They didn't want a stuffy and regimented wedding, they wanted a wedding that was a massive celebration of all the things they love. "Halloween is my favorite holiday however I didn't want to make that the main theme", explained the bride. "I wanted to add a touch of elegance. My first inspiration was our favorite place, New Orleans. We went on our honeymoon there and instead of making the wedding really obviously Halloween themed, we added the vintage New Orleans spin. It turned out to be the perfect mix!"

The New Jersey wedding of Lauren & Justin took place in October and had a vintage gothic theme. Red, black and white were the colours of choice and everything, although mostly handmade by the bride and her mother, had a really elegant twist.
"My mother and I planned this entire wedding ourselves" wrote Lauren. "We had help here and there from my father, husband and even my mother in law. I think I should also mention I work six days a week so all planning was crammed into my only day off.. Sundays... and the little bit of time after work if I had energy!"

A Dramatic Red & Black Nashville Wedding: Kat & Doug
Kat
September 26, 2012
Musician Kat married Doug at Mercy Lounge at The Cannery Ballroom in Nashville. Being so heavily influenced by music, the couple didn't want a traditional wedding and so picked a dramatic black & red colour scheme which worked perfectly in the industrial-looking venue. Dripping candles, dramatic candelabras, deep red roses and black table cloths all added to the slightly gothic vibe of the wedding.
