Adam and Mike’s wedding was the first legal ceremony to be held at Lancaster Castle . The ceremony was originally supposed to be at the registrar’s office, but when their reception venue contacted them two months before the wedding to tell them they could now perform ceremonies too, they jumped at the chance to be the first ever couple to be married there.
Their after party location was A-Wing, the former prison wing of the castle which was pretty unique! They didn’t really want a theme or anything complicated, they just wanted their day to bring their friends and families together and for everyone to have a great time.
“There was no specific inspiration for our wedding, other than bringing everyone together for a big party”, Adam said. “Our biggest issue was finding somewhere big enough for all our friends and family in Lancaster. We had originally been looking for venues for us to have a joint party for our ‘big’ birthdays, as they are a few days apart. Then I proposed to Mike midnight on New Year’s Eve, so we decided to scrap the birthdays and plan a relaxed fun wedding, with an amazing party instead! The wedding was relaxed and Informal. It wasn’t just a wedding it was a party and celebration. We had some traditional elements, but we mostly wanted to do things our own way.”
“Bringing all of our family and friends together to celebrate with us was amazing and the best part of our wedding”, he concluded. “The night do in A-Wing was definitely a highlight too!”

Michelle & Deborah's touching ceremony was one of the main reasons I wanted to share their wedding with you all today. Quite apart from all the beautiful and individual details the couple put into their day, the readings and poems that they selected for their ceremony made this wedding really special and signified their relationship perfectly.
They chose Shakespears Sonnet 116, a section from the children's book "I Like You" by Sandol Stoddard and "I carry your heart with me" by E.E Cummings for their vows. Finally in order to include the fight for equality they read the Massachusetts ruling on marriage. They thought it was so simple and basic and spelled out what marriage meant to them in a perfect way.

Ridge Farm, a working farm and ex-recording studio in Surrey, proved to be the perfect location for Holly & Karen's May wedding. "What made our wedding Rock n Roll? Definitely the venue!" Holly told me. "Aside from being a beautiful farm that we fell in love with instantly, Ridge Farm is also a recording studio where so many of our musical heroes have recorded albums and stayed - so our wedding guests were partying in the very same place that Queen, Whitesnake, Muse, Roxy, Rush and many more have partied! We hired the farm for the entire long weekend - Karen is Irish and it's Irish tradition to hold 3 day long weddings so we had a big meal on the Friday for family and friends then the wedding on the Saturday, followed by a pool party with live music and a hog roast for everyone on the Sunday. The farm sleeps 24 plus there is a camping field so all our hungover guests could just crawl out of bed on Sunday morning and stumble over to rejoin the party. By Sunday evening everyone was in the jacuzzi swigging prosecco from the bottle, even Karen's mum!"

I'm lucky enough to get to blog a lot of gay weddings, and whenever I do I never really like to make a big 'thing' about the fact that is it one. To me, a wedding is a wedding and love is love and whether it's a guy and a girl, two girls or two dudes getting hitched makes not a damn bit of difference. But with Lee & Alistair's wedding, I just can't help but make a point of how happy it makes me to see these two guys getting married. It's so utterly clear from these photos how much in love they are, and I'm so bloody chuffed to be able to share their story with you today.

Sarah & Carol had a destination wedding in Canada. With Sarah originally from Canada the pair, who now live in Brighton, wanted to fly back for the wedding. "We decided to be married in Sarnia because Carol is incredibly attached to her hometown and the beaches and water of Lake Huron (can you blame her?)", wrote newlywed Carol. "At the time we booked the venue we thought we would both be living in Canada, so it seemed a natural choice. We chose Sarnia Riding Club as our venue so we could be right next to the water. We knew that whatever continent we decided to do the wedding on, a lot of people who wouldn't be able to attend, we're so pleased that so many people made it – and we've promised to dance with those who didn't make it very soon."

After a New Year's Eve proposal ("not at midnight, we're not that cheesy!") Chloe & Emma set to planning their tea party wedding for the end of March. Being two girls, they knew their wedding would stand out and they wanted that as well as to put their own stamp on their day. As Chloe explained "Obviously as two girls getting married our wedding was always going to be a bit different. People kept on asking which one of us was going to wear the suit but we were both determined to be complete princesses on the day. We knew we wanted a vintage tea party wedding and we looked at lots of different ways to achieve it as we had a tight budget. In the end my mum who found Jam and Tea, who provided the tea & cake catering, online (she is an expert Googler) and the rest of the wedding fell into place from there."
