Patrick and Chris were planning to get married in October 2015. In fact they still are having a wedding then, but when the opportunity came to adopt their foster son, they didn’t want to wait a moment longer. So they flew to Vegas and eloped!
“Our wedding was very spur of the moment”, Chris told me. “We have a more traditional wedding planned for October (although we’re still only going to have 15 guests!) but Patrick LOVES Elvis and always wanted a Vegas wedding so when the opportunity came up we moved our wedding date and eloped!”
The bride wore a pink dress which she bought online from DH Gate. Her shoes were Iron Fist and had zombie body parts on! She made her own bouquet with pink buttons, flowers made of playing cards and Vegas-related badges! “We just wanted to have fun”, she continued. “I see the same old stuff at weddings so I wanted to be different. The day was chaos but we just had fun and were ourselves. We like Elvis, retro things and zombies so we kind of put it all together in a blender and out came our wedding!”
“My favourite part of the day was getting ready with Patrick. Just the two of us (and Kelly, our amazeballs photographer) together in the hotel room. It was nice to have that time together. Also the hysterical face Patrick made when ‘Elvis’ walked me down the aisle. He was trying so hard to not just die laughing or squeal from excitement!”
“My advice to other couples who might want to elope would be to do it!” Chris concluded. “Just be you. Seriously, do what you want and forget other peoples opinions. I’m sure there are a lot of people we know who don’t understand why we ran off five months before our ‘real’ wedding or why we are still having the ‘real’ wedding later. They probably don’t get the Elvis Vegas thing either. It doesn’t matter to me. Its about Patrick and I, what we love and being in love together.”
