When we launched our 2013 Blogcademy world tour last March, we were blown away by how quickly the tickets started to sell, but no city was as fast as Melbourne. Within only a few days the class had sold out and so we made the executive decision to extend our trip down under and add a second date to the mix - and I'm so glad we did, Melbourne was one of my favourite cities to teach in all year!

I've been throwing the word ‘whirlwind’ around a lot lately, but goodness these past few weeks have really been one! I've strolled around the streets of Manhattan, danced with a disco ball, made custom lipsticks, got a crazy Japanese glitter manicure, found my perfect wrist candy, had a coughing fit live on the internet, hosted a lunch date with our past students, eaten a tub of popcorn larger than my head, posed on velvet couches on city block corners and got locked on a rooftop... and that was just in the first few days!
We did two Blogcademy classes on this trip and I'll be blogging all about the Minneapolis adventures soon, but today it's all about my favourite city in the whole wide world - New Yaaawk!

Presenting: The Blogcademy Home School

The Blogcademy started as an in-person workshop. Bursting into the world in October 2012, we hosted our inaugural class in New York City. But when we flung open those metaphorical turquoise doors, we really had no idea if it would take off. We actually joked the day before that if no-one booked in we'd just have an elaborate sleepover in the space we'd hired and the internet would never know a thing about it. Luckily for us that didn't happen! Sixteen classes later and we've now taught over 400 amazing people all over the world.
It's been an incredible ride so far but you ain't seen nothin' yet!

Behind the Scenes at The Blogcademy

"I know this sounds crazy, but I really feel like The Blogcademy is going to be a massive game-changer for all three of us," Gala said to Shauna & I the morning after the workshop, "and I really hate that phrase..."
But you know what, I think the girl might be onto something.
A heady mix of nerves, anticipation and excitement seeped through my trip to New York this month. Lisa & I had a few other things planned, but we knew our visit was concluding with the biggie. Organising this event was a labour of love and a project of passion - squillions of emails flew back and forth over the course of just a couple of short months while Gala, Shauna & I planned every last detail whilst thousands of miles apart.

We’re Bringing The Blogcademy to… LONDON!!

Cor blimey guv'nor, it's true! We're off to London-town for the next instalment of The Blogcademy madness and we couldn't be more excited!
It didn't take much persuading, but I've coerced Gala & Shauna into hopping on a plane to do the next Blogcademy workshop on my turf. To say I'm excited is a HUGE understatement. Come on Britain, let's show these international playgirls a good time! Shauna has never even been to the UK... I can't wait to get that gal in a black cab, by a red phone box and eating fish n chips. Lisa & I managed to get her drinking tea in New York, it's only a matter of time until she's a fully fledged Anglophile!

It's hard to believe that in just under a year The Blogcademy has taught over 300 women (and a few token men!) about blogging and how they can conquer their corner of the internet. When we first launched the workshop we thought we'd meet some people, teach them some stuff and that would be about it. Never in our wildest dreams did we imagine just what an impact attending this two day class would have on the attendees lives... and ours!
