Matt and Moz were married at home, in their own backyard in Collingwood, Victoria. Their wedding budget was $5000 and they didn’t go a penny over. The bride wore a dress that her mother made for her, and the flowers were sourced from a market.
“Our plan was to have a wedding that was more like a party”, she said. “We wanted to keep the vibe relaxed and we didn’t really stick to any particular style or rules. Our guests told us that they loved our wedding because it was super casual and was a real reflection of us.”
“All our decorations were hand made by us, our friends and family. In the days leading up to the wedding, we sat around the table in the backyard and made ropes of streamers, silk bunting, paper feathers and other decorations. Matt made all the benches and tables and we collected milk crates for seating as well.”
“Our wedding was a celebration of our love with our friends and family”, she concluded. “We steered clear of most of the more traditional aspects of a wedding because it didn’t feel like it was for us. We would encourage other couples to think about what they want and how they want to spend the day.”

Megan and Tom had a chilled out, backyard BBQ wedding held at a friend's house. "We wanted the whole experience to be a representation of ourselves and our relationship", Megan wrote. "While we wanted everything to look beautiful, we didn't want it to be perfect or overdone. I went shopping in thrift stores for all kinds of mismatched vases that would compliment each other. At the end of the night. guests were allowed to take all of the assortments home with them."

Stephanie and Ryan were married at the bride's parent's home. They wanted a budget-friendly DIY day which was themed around their favourite colours. "I had always wanted a beautiful deep navy/ blue as my wedding colour theme", the bride told us. "This happened to suit Ryan too with his red hair and blue eyes. As we started looking for bridesmaid dresses we found these beautiful marigold coloured ones and fell in love. The colour scheme then shifted to include marigolds and yellow/orange tones as well as all the blue."

I Love that Glove
September 9, 2012
Honestly? I struggled with what to write about today. Usually on a Sunday I'll post something non-wedding related that's caught my eye or I'll share something exciting that I've done in the week. But I shared my Photography Farm retreat escapades in this week's Thursday Treats and since then I've basically been chained to my computer replying to the squillions of emails that came in whilst I was away and writing as many blog posts as physically possible. I also spent rather a lot of time on the phone to Cosmopolitan Magazine. NO BIG DEAL (more on this soon!)
And then this wedding pinged into my inbox and it all became clear.

People often ask me if I ever get bored of blogging about weddings. I can see why because usually once you've been doing something - anything - for as long as I have been doing this, it's natural to think that you might start to become a little 'over' it. So while I'm not going to pretend that I'm always thrilled, overjoyed and amazed by every wedding that graces my inbox, I can safely say that I am probably as far from 'over' this job as I could be... especially when I get sent images like Polly and Jamie's wedding to drool over.

Unbelievably, Myles and Cait spent just $2000 on their incredibly detailed Maine wedding. Held at PLD Auction Barn in Mechanic Falls, the wedding was thrifty and gorgeous. Cait wore a dress made up of two summer dresses from oasap.com, $8 shoes from Goodwill and borrowed jewellery. Myles' outfit was also thrifted from Goodwill stores.
