Shaun and Samantha wanted a casual wedding that would reflect them as a couple. They opted for a modern, urban location, Hotel 64 on Gordon , in the heart of Durban. “We decided on the casual route, canapé food served all night, cocktail tables rather than table settings and a constant string of all types of music”, began the bride.
“We also served frozen margaritas instead of ‘headachy’ champagne and had a black, bronze, copper and gold colour scheme. It all really came together beautifully. The flowers were causal collections too, with no table being the same! We created an enchanted bubble for ourselves that night. We really could have been anywhere on Earth!”
“We saved money by doing and the décor and flowers ourselves! We never had any cash injected from anyone else, and saving on our own was difficult, but in the end we managed to spend carefully and made sure we paid cash so we weren’t left with a load of debt after!”
“We collected and bought décor over 10 months so we were only spending a little at a time…we also looked for sales and budgeted carefully so overall we really did well on our expenditure but had all the 5 star elements that make a great wedding! We had amazing food, amazing music and an amazing photographer!”

A Wedding on a Budget with Portraits in IKEA: Janet & Dave
Kat
September 17, 2012
I'm rather partial to IKEA... I know it's not the fanciest of home stores, but whenever I persuade Gareth that we need a trip there (I'm sure we're due another one soon) I feel like a proper grown up. I can actually afford the stuff (like who decided £2000 was standard for a table and chairs? pah John Lewis, PAH!) and it makes me feel all educated buying things with Swedish names. Plus their items are always pretty... even if not always functional - "why yes Gareth I do need that cardboard deer head to put on my office wall..." And don't even get me started on the kids department. I just wish the pink chest of drawers came in adult size...
So when wedding photographer and all round cool dude Chris Barber sent me Janet & Dave's wedding I was excited. Not just because of Dave's Rock n Roll stylings but because they chose the Coventry Ikea as the location for their wedding day portrait sesh. GENIUS! Oh and they spent just £4000 on their day. I'm IN AWE.

We Heart Pictures
August 5, 2013
When Kirsty and Steve planned to marry they knew they wanted tradition to play no part in it. This started with their surname. Instead of keeping their own names or one of them taking the other's they decided to merge their two names to create a brand new one. So Kirsty Foster and Steve Pate became Mr & Mrs Fate!
When it came to capturing their wedding day they wanted photos that were bright, romantic, playful, with a little kooky edge. They found We Heart Pictures through Rock n Roll Bride and couldn't have been happier with their choice! They wedding took place on June 7th at Hoxton Hall, London.

The industrial vibe of their Shoreditch venue is just perfect perfect perrrfect. The space in question is Village Underground, an "evolving project building an international platform for creativity and culture" as the website describes it. SWOON.

Jen & Ilan's spring wedding was held in a Seattle ballroom but it certainly wasn't your traditional ballroom wedding!
