Both being massive sci-fi geeks, a space theme was quickly decided on for Galit and Liron’s February wedding. The Jewish wedding took place in a huge greenhouse in Israel, and they DIYed nearly everything themselves.
“We love sci-fi, and so we decided to follow that in all the design aspects, and introduce to our guests that world”, wrote the bride. “We did all the design ourselves. For favours we gave each guest a small LED light connected to a small battery, the idea was that each guest is a star in our galaxy. We loved that everyone seemed to find a unique and creative way to hook it to themselves!”
“Instead of flower girls we had ‘star girls’. We created a bucket creature alien for them to each carry, with lots of eyes! We filled the buckets with small star shaped paper which we’d cut out ourselves using a star shaped cutter. We also made a photo booth with space themed masks. It was lots of fun!”
“Even though we designed them ourselves our biggest expense was all the printed things. We had BIG posters for the photo booth background (three different alien worlds) and custom designed invites, table settings, a welcome sign and food signs.”

A Homemade Star Wars & Lego Wedding for Geeks: Jennie & Jon

December 10, 2012
With just £5000 to spend, Jennie & Jon we're able to pull of their homemade and geeky wedding with a little bit of imagination and a lot of elbow grease! The ceremony took place at Emmanuel's Church in Sidlow and the reception was hosted at the bride's mother's house.
"We knew that when we decided to get married we would have to do it our own way and make it very individual", explained the bride. "We are both complete geeks and children at heart with a love for Star Wars and Lego, so how could it not be fun? We definitely didn't want a wedding that could have been anybody else's. All our friends live so far away and we only get together once or twice a year so we also wanted it to be very relaxed that we could just spend time with each other. We wanted to do as much as we could ourselves and scoured eBay and car boot sales for cheaper items."

Sam and Stu met at college and bonded over a mutual love of video games, "primarily how to get the knights of the round summon in Final Fantasy 7!" Sam laughed. So needless to say, when it came to tying the knot, the very thing that brought them together was to be the theme of the wedding. " We’re game geeks to the core! We wanted sleek quirky bright design with our gaming interest being the centre of it. We play tabletop RPG’s, board games and regular old video games."

They met online and with a mutual love of all things nerdy (their first date was eating cheese toasties and watching Dark Crystal) they connected instantly. They were married in August at Sole Street House in Kent. "Our theme evolved into a relaxed, geeky garden party", wrote Kirsty. "Vintage touches and having the full day to relax into the venue meant that it felt very natural and laid-back. We picked a colour theme of teal and asked all of our guests to wear something to match. As time went on, it became green and blue in all of the shades but it meant that we could relax about a 'theme' and still have everything come together."

Sarah and Adam's wedding was a true reflection of them. They love anime and Star Wars, so that was their starting point! The day was held at Priston Mill, Bath, in December. They wanted their day to be quirky (like them!) but also fun for their guests. They had retro games set up on the balcony of the barn and devised various drinking games, matching their theme, for their guests!

Back to the future, Indiana Jones, zombies... If you were to ask me to list my all time favourite things they would all be way up there. So when Ellery & Arlyn's geeky gorgeous wedding landed on my lap I was more than a little bit excited to blog it... but also rather gutted that we didn't do our wedding this way!
The Canadian couple were married at The Ironworks Studios in Vancouver. "The Ironworks used to be an old iron factory near the train tracks just outside of Gastown," began the bride. "It's now an eclectic venue used mainly for concerts and TV or movie shoots. We went to our friend’s book signing event there a few years ago and when we started talking about venues, the Ironworks was the place we both thought of first."
