You can never guarantee the British weather, even in the height of summer. So for their August wedding Gabby came very well prepared with some super snazzy wellies!

Rain on your wedding day is a big worry for a lot of couples, but today I'm here to prove to you that it can actually be pretty amazing! Yes, Helen and James' outdoor festival wedding was a wash-out, but they definitely didn't let it ruin their day. I was rather over-excited when I laid eyes on Helen and Andy's Lake District wedding, shot by the amazing Neil Douglas Photography. I mean what could be more incredible than getting wedding day portraits like these in a setting like that!? Hats off to the photographer of course, but also to the awesome couple for not being afraid to potentially get a little wet or muddy. I'd love to see more brave couples like this please, who's with me?
The wedding was held in Buttermere, with the ceremony in a local church and the reception in a tipi in Buttermere field. The couple didn't have a huge budget and opted to DIY and thrift a lot. Helen wore a dress which she bought off eBay for £100 and customised with her grandmother's vintage fur (a last minute edition due to the weather).

Recently I dubbed 2012 the year of the festival wedding. I've been seeing them all over (particularly on my own blog's pages!) and loving it. I used to be a huge festival kid. I live in Reading and we have a pretty famous rock festival every year, so I've always been a bit of a fangirl. I have fond memories of dancing til dawn, getting soaking wet in the rain and not giving a damn and waking up in stranger's tents ...(I'd like to point out this was before Gareth by the way!)

Sarah and Scott's September wedding was originally meant to be held completely outside in a beautiful hollow in the trees at Hirst Priory, amidst beautiful lighting and hay bails for everyone to sit on. However, thanks to the UK weather and its mischief, they had to rethink and bring the outdoors in for much of it, including the arch! But then check out those moody skies and try and tell me you don't love them. Do not fear the rain, people. It can never bring a good wedding day down.

Brad and Joolz chose 27th July 2019 for their wedding so didn't think they'd have to worry about the weather... however the universe had other ideas! Despite having a mostly outdoor day planned, and it being scorching hot the week before, it chucked it down all day. Rather than stress about it through, they grabbed some umbrellas, moved their ceremony inside the tipi and embraced the chaos.

Gena and Lea were married on the beach in front of The Shoosh Club in Brighton. They wanted a fun and relaxed wedding and so after lunch and milkshakes at JB's Diner they booked the VIP area of the club for their after party! Neither venues needed decorating and he whole thing was cost effective and chilled out for the couple and their guests.

A Colourful Festival Wedding at Ridge Farm: Layla & Dan

Layla & Daniel were married in Rusper, Sussex in St Mary Magdalene's Church, followed by a festival style wedding at Ridge Farm. I've featured weddings at this iconic wedding venue before - why so iconic you ask? Well the farm has a recording studio where Oasis, Queen (Bohemian Rhapsody was written here!) Roxy Music, Thin Lizzie, Black Sabbath and many many others have recorded albums! AHHHMAZING.
"The wedding was all personalised by me & Dan", wrote Layla, "including the wine glasses, the moustaches & lips, the heart decor, the table plan & numbers, the 'LOVE' sign and the bunting. We had a two-day wedding. From the start we knew we didn’t want everything to be over with in just one day! Ridge Farm was the PERFECT venue as we were able to hire it exclusively from Friday to Monday which meant our parents, brothers & sisters, bridesmaids and best men could share the whole time with us. We also had some friends of ours camping on the grounds. Friday was set-up day, with everyone mucking in; Saturday was the wedding; and on Sunday we had about 100 of our guests returning for a Hog Roast, DJ’s and dancing till the wee hours!"
