When I saw Courtney and Cori’s wedding for the first time I let out a little squeak of approval. Not only did these guys have a carnival themed wedding at a theme park but the bride used Hello Kitty (my favourite!) throughout her amazing outfit! Her shoes, nails and bouquet (!!) all had Hello Kitty on them. Is this the cutest thing ever or what?
The wedding took place at Rainbows End Theme Park in New Zealand. “We wanted to capture that feeling love gives you in the pit of your stomach”, began the bride “What’s better than a carnival full of love, laughter, rides and sweet treats?”
“Cori and I are not your normal couple, we don’t sweat the small stuff and have the most amazing relaxed relationship full of laughter and smiles. That thrill and excitement you feel when your riding a roller coaster is what it feels like everyday in our relationship so we wanted to have everyone feel it with us! We could not of had a sit down white tablecloth wedding as that is just not us.”
Continuing on with the ‘fun’ theme, the ceremony was officiated by a comedian! “Penny Ashton was our celebrant”, Courtney explained. “She wrote the whole ceremony and didn’t show us beforehand so it was a surprise on the day. Everybody laughed and cried the whole way through, she nailed it! After we were pronounced husband and wife Cori had a surprise for me! His band mate came out and sung an acoustic version of our song and we had our first dance right there on stage, it was amazing!”
“We were the first wedding Rainbows End has ever had so it was great jumping into the unknown together!” she continued. “We did not hire any furniture or change the park in anyway which saved us loads of money. We just loved everything about it and just wanted it to be itself. I also made my own bouquet and crafting everything else. The ceremony was held on the main stage and the reception was the rides. The food stalls were open so guests just walked up and ordered hot dogs and burgers… anything they wanted!”
“There’s not one thing I’d change about our wedding”, she concluded. “It was a perfect day with perfect people. I couldn’t be more thankful to all those involved.”
