Oh I do love when I get to blog both the engagement shoot and wedding of such an awesome couple. I actually don’t post too many of the former, but Jesse and Chris’s cemetery session really stood out so I just had to! I made their photographers, Sarah and Rachel of Sugar and Spice Weddings , promise that she’d send me their wedding pictures after it happened too, and I’m thrilled to share them with you all today. You’ll see why…
The wedding was held at their own home. They didn’t have a set theme, only that they wanted it to be very ‘them.’ Their colours were black, pink and purple. “Our wedding was very intimate and small”, explained Jesse. “All of our guests all have a very close relationship to us so it was very emotional and happy. We never felt so much happiness and love. The fact that it was at our home made it so intimate and everyone we loved was together at the same time to share and celebrate our love for each other.”
“We splashed out on my wedding dress”, she continued. “I wore a custom hand made by Jocelyn Weber and black pointed shoes. Chris also wore all black. It was impossible to find a black wedding dress so I had one custom made to be exactly what I wanted and to fit me perfectly.”

It feels weird to start a real wedding post with a disclaimer of sorts but this is just one of those weddings that I share with a small sense of trepidation. Without wanting to sound like anybody's mother, let's just remember that this is two people's actual wedding day and their way of expressing their love. I am under no disillusion that parts of the wedding may well divide opinion, but as always, let's keep the comments constructive and remember what Rock n Roll Bride is all about...

Katie and Christopher dropped just $1000 on their amazing wedding. They hosted it in their own home, the bride bought her dress online and the reception décor was put together by the couple themselves. They had a bubble machine on the ceiling, costume accessories, creepy mannequins, sparklers and black silk petals. Their seating was all thrifted to save cash.

A Black Wedding Dress, A Traditional Church Wedding & A Burlesque Themed Reception: Scarlet & Craig

Scarlet & Craig's wedding wowed me as soon as I spied that dress. I was so excited to be able to share this incredible Goth extravaganza and luckily for you lot, so were the newlyweds. In fact Craig's reply when I emailed him back saying 'Yes yes, hell yes (ps your wife is hot)' was something along the lines of 'OMG so excited that you're going to feature us!!! Squeeee'.
"I'd never really thought about my wedding day growing up, so when Craig proposed on a trip to Amsterdam (with a tattoo that simply said 'Marry Me' on his wrists!) I was thrown into a bit of a panic!" Scarlet explained. "But as soon as we started planning we knew we wanted to do things our own way. Luckily we found Rock n Roll Bride, which made us realise there really are no 'rules' for a wedding, and then we just went all out! We didn't start out with one, but as we went along we developed a kind of pink and black gothic fairytale theme, pink being my favourite colour, and black being Craig's!

Tyson and Allie's Florida wedding had a music themed wedding with touches of Halloween, New Orleans and vintage. They didn't want a stuffy and regimented wedding, they wanted a wedding that was a massive celebration of all the things they love. "Halloween is my favorite holiday however I didn't want to make that the main theme", explained the bride. "I wanted to add a touch of elegance. My first inspiration was our favorite place, New Orleans. We went on our honeymoon there and instead of making the wedding really obviously Halloween themed, we added the vintage New Orleans spin. It turned out to be the perfect mix!"

The New Jersey wedding of Lauren & Justin took place in October and had a vintage gothic theme. Red, black and white were the colours of choice and everything, although mostly handmade by the bride and her mother, had a really elegant twist.
"My mother and I planned this entire wedding ourselves" wrote Lauren. "We had help here and there from my father, husband and even my mother in law. I think I should also mention I work six days a week so all planning was crammed into my only day off.. Sundays... and the little bit of time after work if I had energy!"

Now this, my friends, is what being a Rock n Roll bride is all about. It's not about flowers, or favours or a fancy wedding venue. It's not about what you wear, who your bridesmaids are or what theme you have. Being a Rock n Roll bride is about doing your own thing, marching to your own beat, and saying "I do" in a way that feels right for the two of you. That's exactly what Rob and Edie did which is why I'm so excited to share their wedding with you today.
