Netty and Andy were married in Northampton during August. They wanted their wedding to be colourful and fun. “We picked wedding suppliers that were really arty and talented”, began the bride. “Our photographer, Hannah of Casey Avenue , was both creative and quirky which suited our style perfectly.”
“Hattie & Flora did our flowers and took our colourful brief and ran with it! By having such great suppliers our wedding was really relaxed and really ‘us’. It was such a lovely celebration, and apart from being a bit nervous, we didn’t feel stressed. It wasn’t too fussy, we just had a really good party.”
“One of my favourite things about our wedding is our photos”, she continued. “We loved taking them in the forest and we’re so glad we had Hannah, we were so lucky to find her. She really ‘got us’ and the photos are really quirky but natural. My family thought she was so friendly and professional. The photographer can really make your day. It goes by so quickly that it’s important that you can see all the little things in the photos that we might have missed on the day.”

With just £3000, a mountain of ideas and a hell of a lot of hard work, Abby and Liam planned their DIY village hall wedding for August this year. The day was held at Eccleston Village Hall, with the ceremony in the garden. They saved a lot of money by not going for traditional wedding stuff. Abby's amazing dress was vintage, bought at Pillbox Vintage Wedding Fair, which she then had reworked by Carla at Mon Ami. Liam's outfit was from River Island. The flowers were all grown in the bride's mother's garden and their transport for the day was their own vintage yellow Beetle!

Sam and Stu met at college and bonded over a mutual love of video games, "primarily how to get the knights of the round summon in Final Fantasy 7!" Sam laughed. So needless to say, when it came to tying the knot, the very thing that brought them together was to be the theme of the wedding. " We’re game geeks to the core! We wanted sleek quirky bright design with our gaming interest being the centre of it. We play tabletop RPG’s, board games and regular old video games."

Helen and Toby's rainbow wedding took place at Coombes Farm in Lancing. The didn't have a huge budget, £8000, but they made it go far with plenty of personal touches and DIY projects. The cakes, flowers and stationery were all done by friends and they didn't hire a fancy caterer to feed their guests. Instead of gifts they asked their guests to each bring their favourite dish!

A Technicoloured Wedding: Ren & Tim

July 19, 2012
Ren & Tim pulled off their amazing colourful and alternative wedding with a £9000 budget. They spent on the things they felt were important and saved by DIYing the elements they knew they could do themselves (reception decor, stationery, cake). Although these things didn't always go to plan, in the end it all turned out alright and the things that didn't work really didn't matter on the day! I particularly love this wedding because it took place in Reading (where I live!). In fact the bride moved to this little town of ours from London to be with her boy. Awww!
