Elaborate 1940s Vintage Castle Wedding: Christina & Richard

It’s not often I get to feature such grand weddings, but that doesn’t mean my heart didn’t skip a beat when I laid eyes on Christina and Richard’s epic Eastnor Castle celebration. Three wedding dresses, a custom Choccywoccydoodah cake, elaborate vintage styling and an impressive fireworks display really made this a wedding to remember!

“Vintage weddings are so popular these days but both myself and Richard have a love for 1940s music and lindy-hop dancing so decided this was the perfect theme for us”, Christina began. “We had a 1940s vintage theme with a touch of 1930s in the wedding attire for bride and groom, and vintage Hollywood style over dinner. We kept the details of the day secret from most guests, so the element of surprise as lots of different things happened throughout the day kept guests excited and entertained. The fireworks reflecting over the lake was the winning highlight for the guests as well as an extra hog roast as second dinner.”

“Picking a theme that really defines us as a couple helped to make the wedding special and personal”,  Christina continued. “Our venue was just spectacular and it’s very Rock n Roll to get married in a castle with armour and tapestries and truly stunning décor. A family actually lives in this castle when it is not being used for events, so it feels like a big home with lots of personal, quirky, touches rather than a sanitised wedding venue.”

“I’d also advice other brides to be brave with their fashion choices! I obviously must mention my feather wedding dress by the amazing Charlotte Casadejus. I found this at a vintage wedding fair and fell in love with it. Do attend one of these fairs if you are a London bride seeking vintage inspiration for dresses and accessories, wedding stationary and much more. As I was busily looking through the rack I was immediately drawn to the feather skirt of this dress and thought this was a very unusual choice, but for a girl that loves drama and all things old Hollywood once I tried it on I felt like Grace Kelly. Be brave and bold on your wedding day and pick something that is your style not what is expected. And why should the groom miss out on all the fun? Richard wore three different outfits too, each reflecting his own personal style.”

“It’s impossible for me to pick just one favourite moment”, the bride concluded, “as it was all fabulous and all elements came together flawlessly. But after marrying my beloved (of course!) I loved being physically in the best shape ever in my life and having good hair (call me shallow). Having a glam squad to do hair and make up and to look better than you ever thought you could is just pure magic. Eastnor Castle is the most amazing venue too, just jaw dropping, I can’t recommend it highly enough.”
