“Could there be anything more romantic than your soldier coming home from war?” wrote photographers Caroline & Jayden of Woodnote Photography . “And what if it was in the 40s, and you hadn’t been able to communicate with him online?” This was the starting point of inspiration for the honeymoon shoot of Ann & Anders which took place in Stockholm, Sweden.
“We teamed up with the fabulous stylists of Vintage Honeymoon to create this little inspiration from the past”, they continued. “Bicycles, a colorful picnic tea and a puppy as a wedding gift are the small details that turned this shoot into an afternoon of vintage magic.”
A honeymoon shoot might not be something you’ve considered before – well after all the hustle & bustle of organising your big day it’s probably the last thing on your mind! But after seeing Ann & Anders’ shoot I’m kinda in love with the idea. Gareth & I honeymooned in Tokyo. I would have loved a professional shoot to commemorate this trip – imagine what a weird and wonderful set of photographs we could have been left with!
Where are you off to on honeymoon and would you consider doing a little photo shoot to commemorate?
Thank you to Caroline & Jayden of Woodnote Photography for sharing these with us today.

A Trailer Trash Bridal Shoot with a Vintage Airstream
Kat
August 25, 2012
"Ever since I spent time travelling from Nashville to San Francisco last Autumn, I've benn obsessed with wanting to recreate vintage Americana!" wrote stylist Lynsey Le Keux. "This summer I had the pleasure of making it happen. I got together with some serious wedding industry talent including Sassy of Assassynation and Jo of The Couture Company. Our theme was 'trailer trash chic' which basically meant coney neck beers, dust-caked American cars, sweat smudged make up and broad blue skies. The aim was to portray unique bridal beauty against a backdrop of pure gritty trash... We wanted to inspire bridal styling outside of tradition and show our customers that they don't have to follow convention to rock a wedding - bridal beauty is subjective and one thing all the collaborators agreed on was how much we loved customers who did things their way."

Surprise Pool Party Wedding Recreation
Kat
November 19, 2012
Oh I love a surprise wedding! And a surprise wedding + pool party!? EPIC!
But this wasn't actually a real wedding (sad face) although it was set up as a recreation of the actual wedding of some friends of the photographer who were married 30 years ago. Jessie & Kenny had this actual wedding, in this exact same spot in 1982 (some of their wedding photos are at the end of the gallery - how amazing are they?!) So to celebrate, and to have an their anniversary party with a difference, they decided to relive the whole thing. This is a styled shoot with a difference and, yes, they really had the big party afterwards!

Wild and Overgrown Bridal Editorial

Morgan Wade
December 1, 2013
Wedding photographer Morgan Wade had been dreaming of a bridal shoot in an overgrown forest for ages. Eventually she plucked up the courage to just go out and shoot it, and she brought an amazing team along with her. "My initial goal was to create a sort of anti-editorial; something that would appeal to a wilder kind of woman", she wrote. "A bride who wanted to sidestep all the pretty stuff and just go for raw. I knew it wouldn't be for everyone, and that's okay. Somewhere out there are women who have to hold back the urge to howl at the moon; those are my brides."

Go Wild with A Most Curious Party
Kat
August 11, 2012
I'm obsessed with this shoot, set up by Becky Hoh-Hale to promote her new breed of vintage wedding fair, A Most Curious Party. If you've been reading Rock n Roll Bride for a while you might recognise that name - I've been lucky enough to feature two of their shoots to promote previous events (as well as Rebecca's own gorgeous wedding).
Alongside the amazing Joanna Millington Photography and some of the other suppliers exhibiting at the shows, Becky wanted to showcase a unique twist on the vintage wedding trend - it's not all tea length 50s dresses and mismatched crockery here! "We had big plans for this shoot", explained Becky. "Originally we wanted to shoot in the Norfolk Woods, where much of the flat landscape looks like the set of Spike Jones’s 'Where the Wild Things Are' but on the day we were strewn with drizzle, which eventually turned into full blown rain, which eventually turned into hail. So onto plan B!"
