This colourful ranch wedding winged it’s way to me all the way from sunny California. Held at The Holland Ranch, San Luis Obispo, with all the guests staying at the nearby Madonna Inn, the day was one of colour, fun and a rockin’ good time!
“Our inspiration was to make our wedding as fun as possible and as uniquely ‘us'”, Jamie, the bride, told me. “We knew we wanted to do it in San Luis Obispo because it’s our favorite little town on the coast and would be a destination wedding for our families who live out of town and our friends who live in LA. The Madonna Inn is a special hotel for us and we stay there a few times a year. It’s so fun and funky. And we love that every room was different, we knew it would be a fun part of the experience for our guests. As soon as we found the Holland Ranch and saw all the neon signs and taxidermy on the walls of the party barn, we knew it was our place. Plus, it had the gorgeous mountain-backdrop and cool archway for the ceremony. We loved the idea of having our big day all in one location. And the barn was the perfect back-drop for the party! More than anything, we wanted our guests to have fun and from what we’ve heard, they did!”
“From the Madonna Inn to the party shuttle bus, from the gift bags to The Atomic Punks (our amazing band!) and from the amazing food provided from Two Cooks Catering, to the gorgeous and rustic Holland Ranch, our wedding was perfect. We were so appreciative of all our guests coming to our favorite little town in CA (most guests came in from Texas, North Dakota, or drove up from LA) so we didn’t want them to worry about a single thing once they arrived.”
The bride wore a short dress made especially for her by Nicolette Paulsen in Los Angeles. The couple also added DIY elements throughout the wedding. “The cloth napkins were made by my mum. They made added such an amazing, colorful touch to the wedding and are something to always have and cherish. And thank God for Etsy! We spent a whole weekend making the wedding favor bags provided for each guest as they checked into the Madonna Inn. They included organic vegan chocolates from Sweet Earth Chocolates in SLO, California roasted almonds from the central coast, and a fun, detailed welcome letter for guests including everything from restaurant suggestions to a cartoon timeline of the wedding weekend. They also included mini menus of all the restaurant suggestions in town and wine-tasting routes and maps of the area.”
“Our favorite part was dancing the night away with all our favorite people in the world”, concluded the bride. “Having the Atomic Punks as the soundtrack was amazing. We also loved that everyone really brought their ‘A Game’ in the party department!!”
Fabulous. I’m loving all the colourful wedding inspiration I’m getting to share these days! Thank you to Jamie & Chris and their photographer Jen for sharing today.
